The RAM I got for my wife's new computer has gone from the $399AUD I paid for it to $1399 :D

Considering a "you might not need your extra memory anymore, wife LOL" :D

Nah, she had a i5-10500 (non K!) and 64 gb of DDR4. Now she has a 9800X3D and 64GB of DDR5! Her (formerly mine) 3080 isn't bottlenecked anymore!

That amount of memory for games is overkill. 32GB is still quite comfortably OK for most situations. All that matters is frequency and the 3D CPU.

I'm building my pc. Had a 32gb set of Corsair RAM in Amazon basket at 130€. Then @holoz0r said the prices were doubling. I managed to pay those RAM 170€. In this exact moment they cost 440€. I also managed to get a pair of Crucial for 160€. I'm probably going to sell one pair

The problem I see with all these is warranties... in your case, you are in Europe, so you probably can get your money back if there is no way to replace your DIMMs... but in some other places, the laws don't cover people so well.

I bought a server with 1TB of RAM for about $1k a little over a year ago. I can sell just the ram for a nice profit now.

Yeap... DDR4 big DIMMS are especially very much 3 to 4x in price.

Fired? Why?

No... Fooled

Because of how we are being monopolised by giants.
