It is nice to see so many games are being developed on Hive and a lot of people enjoy them, but I don't like the snaps stream being flooded with status updates from these games.
Can these be filtered somehow? @asgarth @peakd

Sort:

Do you have a clear filtering criteria? Like by tags, keywords ...whatever we can use to implement an automatic thing?

There are quite a lot of different tags. And new games with new tags get launched every week.

A lot of the hivesuite use #hivegaming and a game tag like
#scratchcard
#spinwheel
#wordfinder
#arrowexit

And
#hivegrove
#hiveword
#holohover
#mydempire

And there is #scrobblelife which are updates of music, films and books people listen to, watch or read.

The best option might be that we can select the tags we don't want to see. Maybe people play some games and want to hide updates of other games.

It's going to be a problem with many other UIs... But I am with you.

Maybe tag filtering on UI's needs to be a thing.

Oh, there is an option for tag filtering in Peakd, but I think it only works for blogs and not for comments.

I meant it for snaps... under these main posts.

It can be implemented... This is all an front end thing. I have been trying many new ones lately... and I can see some explored some interesting features.

For example, liketu.net really surprised me with how they implemented the entire thing... really replaces Insta in my view. And WAAYYYY better in other parts.

Cool! I tagged the lead dev, so let's see what happens.

I guess you could "unfollow" the people who post too many game status updates and select the "following" tab when browsing Snapie.

That could be an option, but I will miss all their other posts too. And it would be cumbersome to maintain that list.

Yes... i'd love that too. On snapie.io is an option to choose tags you don't wanna see. Though for now i got the impression it doesn't work often... @meno, you may got an idea?

Oh, cool. I haven't checked that one in a while. So used to the peakd interface 😄
But maybe I should indeed check out some other interfaces to see what changed.

Hehehe... definitely get that. Peakd is awesome. Though since i'm mostly on mobile lately, which means no blogs from my side, i use the snapie.app for the quick comments. I quite like that

I'm pretty sure these aren't being developed. They are just open sourced games from elsewhere being added to keep people active, making it look like the sites are being used

Apart from how they are developed, I want to get rid of the updates from people playing those games.

HiveSuite allows that. It's the only platform that does easily.

Someone replied Snapie could also do this. But I'm so used to Peaks, it's hard to switch to another app for me.

Snapie only allows you to filter tags and not all the games are tagged. HiveSuite allows you to specifically filter the game and movie reviewshares in two toggles without having to find and type the individual tags into the feature manually that doesn't even filter them all out anyway

why would it be necessary anyway to make a snap for every fluffing time someone 'played' something... that's better to announce in the game imho

I totally understand it from the perspective of the game developer. It give the game a lot of visibility and attracts new players. But for those who don't play it can get annoying. Especially with the increasing number of games.

i hear you. though with an average of ~2000 hivers online a day, i can't see the benefits of it. they would be better off with hive blog posts shared on their other social media sites to maybe attract the new users. the flooding of Micro-Blogging will more likely kill the mood.

I agree with you here...

I understand the concern... lots of automated game updates can make regular conversations harder to notice 🤔🐝

Made a post about that myself the other week; it can be a bit of a double-edged sword. Platforms want to share 'their' posts and get attention, but the way the feeds work, everything starts to look a bit spammy. Filters would be nice to allow everyone personal choice in the decentralised madness!

It would be easier with one branch of short-form, too, but we have many of those! It's nice to see the market buzzing; let's see how the bright minds 'solve' this new issue!

Your Hangs platform is as spammy as the game shares

Posted via HiveSuite

Our Hangs platform simply shows the content from Snaps, Waves, Threads, Moment, Dbuzz and Hangs, so the spam is the same spam that's in all the other threads. As I said in my post, I don't like the game spam much, but it's also a good way to get your brand out there. Double-edged sword.

Could you help us refine Slothbuzz.com/hangs with some further feedback? We want to make a platform users want to use, so if it comes across as spammy, please help us fix it.

Wrong, because I'm not viewing hangs through your frontend. I'm just seeing you slothly bloat spam on other frontends. That means I'm already seeing the other feeds minus the spam, cuz hivesuite lets me filter it out then the spam from hangs separately

Yeah, we need to work on our filters too. I see Hive Suite just added them. It's great to see other projects taking steps to allow users to customise their experience.

And I'm not sure why we're simply 'bloat spam'; our Hangs threads are currently underused as we focus on showing all content, not just Slothbuzz content, so I appreciate that the Sloth pets posts can be rather tiresome if that's all you see. At least it's contained in one thread, which is easy for a front end to hide if the user prefers.

Sloth steps forward, thanks for your feedback.

Also, on HiveSuite you can filter out the games and movie reviews from all the microblogging feeds
