Snap 9: This is how Baxter describes the state of sin. A man under the state of sin “has habitually and predominantly a greater love for some pleasures, profits,” and power in this world “than he has for God” and the afterlife. #pob #bbh #hive-engine #meme #pepe #someeofficial

Sort:

He prefers and seeks prosperity rather than the favor of God. His heart is primarily focused on the things of the world rather than the things of the soul.

The next analogy that Baxter used was biting and painful. He compared such a man to someone who hates his dearest friend or father and loves the company of a dog or toad. Or to a dying man angry at his physician because the latter is going against his will just to cure him.
