Helped my mother put together a couch and a bookshelf today. By help, I mean, did all the work and constantly asked her to get out of the way while I lifted the heavy things.

Sort:

Sounds like me helping my mum when I visit them. Large heavy pots in their garden. She will try lifting one and quite often she does. She’s 82 soon. Thinks she’s 40 and to be fair you wouldn’t believe she is 80 plus. I end telling her to take a seat and she can direct!

Mine is not that quite old, but she is realising that she is getting old. :)

One thing I've learnt from my brother is:

"If you are not helping, get out of the way" 😆

I wonder if this is a cultural thing. There is a "term" in Italy (not where I am from) "Umarell" - which is a group of old retired men watching construction or labour going on. I would have been much happier with that, than what I had. :)

More like it comes with age. My brother says most of old people are like that, they stand next to you, to see what you're doing and sometimes they do intend to help, but don't realize they can't, and they are just holding you back 😬 He had to learn to deal with it.

Hahaha!

I got paid in cashews, though!

hahaha... xD
I can imagine... my mom is like that, too!
So she usually just ends up telling my dad and me what to do. XD

I'm the only one she has left, so it all falls on me :)

Hahaha... I'll be cheering for you! :)
But hey... at least, you still have each other! ^^

Lol, a lot of them are like that

It took a good few hours, but it got done
