It appears from what AI tells me it is mostly because it is so clear and cold combined with light reflection.
Interesting! When I asked people about the vibrant green colour of some streams around here, I was told that it was because of some mineral.
Yep. That is true also. Here is Diablo lake in North Cascades NP. The green color is from sediment in glacial run off.
