The Akawa Butte fire is about 3 miles from us right now. We are at level 1 of 3 evac status which means be ready.Things are not too bad at the moment, but hot and windy days could change things quickly.
This map shows our whole region is kind of on fire.
That's a lot of fires there. A few places here have received evacuation orders. Vancouver went up in flames soon after its incorporation in 1886. Those fires can be fiendishly quick, especially with blowing winds.
