The wide angle sets the mood nicely for this setting. It kills me that my camera doesn't have great optical zoom. I purchased a monocular with a phone attachment, but I haven't used it much. I'll have to test it properly this hiking season.
Yeah, even with a zoom on my Nikon I'm not always happy with the outcome. They just never seem as crisp and clear as I would like. I think it's a mixture of the equipment and the photographer not doing his job. lol

It was a black bird. My phone camera doesn't zoom real well so I was stuck with wider angle images. :)

It's true. Tripods help immensely, for example, but who wants to lug around the extra weight of a tripod during a long hike. 😰
