I agree 100% and although I haven't visited London before I really want to see it in person someday. The architecture is really nice!
I think it takes time to appreciate. I've been a bunch of times for practical reasons (passport renewals, airports and such), but this was the first time I spent the time - 25-30,000 steps a day - truly getting to know it outside of the central tourist bit!
