I used to help with some beekeeping when I was younger, just got my own first hive this year.

I built the hive myself, from local trees I milled, and have been keeping them without using any chemical mite treatments or unnatural foods.

That's so awesome! We like natural vs chemicals. That's how I'd like to do ours also.
I take it all has been well? No mite problems?

So far, so good. Though I've not done a mite count recently, the hive is thriving, and I haven't spotted a single mite yet on the bottom board.

That's great! I bet you can hardly wait to start getting honey. The guy that's going to teach my husband has quite a few hives. He uses it for extra income. Will you be selling your honey or keep it for personal use?

I plan to be able to sell both honey and bees within a couple years.
