Who else is ditching Spotify because it funds weapons? Looking at Quobuz, Bandcamp. Not sure I can afford the sub of QB and irs inconvenient to start my playlists all over again. My Dad had migrated to Quobuz because he said the sound was better. Thoughts?

Sort:

Spotify is notorious for anti-consumer practices (outlined here), never used them. As a clippy I always download a DRM-free copy and play them locally.

Personally used Bandcamp once, it's a one-time purchase that I don't mind sometimes.

i dont even know QB yet,,, i love my spotify forever... and agaimst all odds

As long as you're okay with funding weapons and not paying artists properly... I can no longer live with it.

thats hard...

I've only used it twice or more. I prefer playing from my downloaded Playlist

I've moved to boomplay for now. Still visit Spotify once in a while, because when I need to listen to a particular track, they give me the whole album and sometimes it's quite annoying 🤣🤣

I haven't heard of that, I'll look into it

Anyone who charges you a subscription is probably funding weapons somewhere.

That's a good point. I try to resist any subs.

I use google play music, because I pay for YouTube premium, and it is included. One sub to rule them all. Google does evil shit too, I imagine.

What do you get from YT premium?

Getting to watch YouTube without ads is the biggest advantage. It saves time. Time is money...

I get you, it’s tough balancing ethics and convenience, Bandcamp’s great for artist support though 🎶

Band Camp is good. I think I'll do a bit of both.
