RE: Snaps Container // 10/20/2025, 1:48:00 PM

I'm still rocking a 10700 in my main machine. Fortunately, that's still holding up well enough, but I'm not liking the lack of redundancy in my server. I'm hoping to go from beginner homelab setup to a slightly more advanced Proxmox build and ZFS RAID(s).

Sort:

I just got a mini PC the other week to run proxmox on. My "homelab" is actually very "production" for my purposes. Unraid is the main network storage. It runs Jellyfin and a few containers. My photo backups live there. They sync to a qnap. That syncs to offsite. There's more...

Unraid runs my primary hive witness node. The proxmox box I set up runs two VMs, each of them running as backup nodes, in the case I need to upgrade (there is an upcoming hard fork) - and after the hard fork, and when my new job starts, another mini pc will join. :)

So far, I'm really only using my server for Nextcloud and AMP (video game server manager) so I've been doing okay with a single mini PC. I'm hoping to add an actual server chassis with "salvaged" parts to the setup and use a couple mini PCs with that to make a cluster.

I really want one of the VMs on my unraid to be a windows VM - I'll get around to it! So I can easily remote into for those moments when I really need Excel, PowerBI, or Word - without having to reboot into another OS. I know when I need Photoshop, I have no choice, though.

I also need to set up couch DB for obsidian live sync to work across all my devices, I've been using Joplin (to see what it is like) - and I MISS Obsidian so much, but right now, I have too many words I need to work on getting OUT before I am prepared to run more containers :D
