As I've been been using the Brave browser for a while I didn't realise how annoying Youtube ads could be. I just didn't see them. I reinstalled Ubuntu Linux this week and tried using Firefox, but I may have to change. I expect there's an extension for that to block ads.

Sort:

Yeah, I have used Brave for years. I'm always baffled by people in YouTube comments complaining about ads, as if they have to watch them. Google doesn't deserve any of my money and I don't even feel bad.

Been using Brave for years and I'm happy with it… uBlock on Firefox helps too… ads are brutal otherwise.

Why don't you try the chrome for browsing?? I used Google chrome mostly

Brave is based on Chrome. I thought I would try something different for a change.

Yes for a change you can try something different

Brave was blocking YouTube here, but now it's working again. I don't really use it much, I don't remember if ads are showing up, but I can't give up Brave anymore, the blocks it does are too good.

I'm trying Ghostery in Firefox and that may do the trick.

Hmm, I've never heard of it. Is it an extension for Firefox?

It was top of the list when I searched the extensions. I've been using browsers based on Chrome for a while, so seeing how Firefox does.

I understand, it's always good to explore and learn new things, whether they're resources or applications! Then tell us about your experience here.

uBlock Origin works flawlessly with Firefox, at least for me. No idea if this is the case on Ubuntu, but it's worth giving it a try! You can even watch ad-free YT on your TV.

I'm trying one of the many ad blockers. Without that the internet is hardly usable.

Worse. Without ad-blockers, online experience is dangerous to your sanity.
