Some may think England is gloomy in winter, but our #solar panels generated more power than we need today and we get paid to export the excess.

Great stuff. We just got panels on the new place, always had on the old. Just waiting for them to be connected. We didn't get a battery... Couldn't afford it. But we run most of appliances during day (washing machine on timer etc) and we have no problem with sun here.

The battery saves us a lot as we can charge it on overnight cheap rate to use all day. Over the winter the sun can be erratic. It rained a lot yesterday, but we still got about 2kWh.

How much did you battery cost, if you don't mind me asking?

It was part of the package but it would be a couple of thousand pounds. I would expect it to last a long time and pay for itself. I think it's this one.

It'd be great to have one. They are about 12k here so around 6k quid..I'd need Hive to moon..

How much for this?

For what? The panels are not so cheap, but I get paid a bit for exporting power and save a lot generally.

The solar panel.

We have 20 panels plus a big battery. That all cost a lot, but it will pay back over time, maybe 12 years. If you get more sun it could be quicker.

Thanks for the heads up.
