People often assume that the person at the top of an organization is the ultimate leader. But is that really true? Arjan Wisser, one of my latest guests in my podcast, challenges this idea. He questions the myth that a CEO automatically equals a leader.
In my own professional experience, I agree with him; many high-level executives are actually well-paid managers who are excellent at managing processes but are often just as terrified of the unknown as anyone else. Consequently, they often aren't able to lead their companies through uncertainty.
Arjan and I discussed why people in high positions are often more afraid of risk than the rest of us. Often they fear losing face, maintaining an image, or preserving the status quo. Many avoid taking risks because they do not want to endanger their position. As long as things are moving, they convince themselves there is no need to take risks.
But true leadership is not about protecting the status quo. True leadership is about identifying new opportunities and creating the future. It is about communicating a clear vision, equipping the team, and inspiring people to move forward.
The conversation is not about criticizing leaders. It is an invitation to look inward and explore why becoming more of who you truly are is one of the greatest gifts you can offer to those around you.
Do you agree that most CEOs are managers rather than leaders? personally, I believe that being a leader does not necessarily require a title or position. How are you stepping up to lead in your current role, regardless of your standing? Share your thoughts in the comments.

Our school has been in a critical financial status since the year I came back. I suggested giving our financial statements to a professional analyst to come up with a proposal. However, my suggestion was not taken seriously. Now, I am afraid that we are facing insolvency.
