Greetings friends!
This is my hive birthday. I joined Hive on 3rd March 2018. So, I have completed eight years here. Then Hive was not in existence. It was known as steem blockchain only. Later steem blockchain hardforked into steem and hive blockchain.
It had been a remarkable journey. In the beginning I thought I would be acknowledged and supported on blockchain based social media because of my unique and thoughtful posts. But I was wrong. I couldn't get even a single vote for my long and descriptive posts. Then I realized that I was missing something. I was just wasting my time and resources. So, I powered up my account with a few steem that I purchased after spending $500 at first instance. Then Steem token price was around 2-3 USD I think. So, I got only two hundred steem tokens. But it started my journey. I later invested more. But, soon steem price started declining. Value of my investment declined as well. Then hive blockchain came into existence. It lead doubling the value of my account because I got equal amount of steem and hive in separate accounts.
That was my misfortune that I invested late when steem price was high and later it declined. Now I have about $17000 HP but the current value of my hive account is just around $1200. This is below the invested amount. Man is helpless against nature. That's what I can say. I am happy that I met lots of nice people here and I had great conversations with the learned people here. I learned a lot from this platform. This is the only dividend I received from hive.

You may accumulate more hive power if you write good posts. Till then you'll have to wait.
I hear you on the loss from HIVE decreasing in value.
I figure there are two choices... Stick with it or walk away.
Personally I see how useful HIVE can be if properly deployed and used. Only takes one major company to go "Hey I could use this and things take off again" but then again, if no-one does it slowly tapers into obscurity.
Time will tell. Let's see what you write in another 8 years :)
