Today we are launching Ecency Blogs: your own hosted blog, on your own subdomain, powered by the content you already own on Hive.
Here is the short version. For $2 a month you get a clean personal blog at yourname.blogs.ecency.com. It is built from your Hive posts, so if you already publish through Ecency, your site exists the moment you turn it on. Pay by card, or pay on-chain with 2 HBD and a simple memo. Stack as many months as you like in one payment. Want the address to be fully your own? Point your own custom domain at it for $1 a month more.

Why a blockchain platform is selling hosting
Fair question. The answer is that Ecency Blogs is not hosting in the way the word usually means.
With a normal blog host, the host has your content and you have a subscription. Stop paying, or watch the company fold and your site is gone, along with every post on it. The content was only ever a tenant.
Ecency Blogs inverts that. Your posts live on the Hive blockchain, under keys that you hold, exactly as they do today. The blog is a presentation layer: a fast, focused, personal site wrapped around content that already belongs to you. If you stop paying, the site goes dormant and you lose nothing. Every post remains on Hive, readable through Ecency or any other Hive app and your subdomain is waiting if you come back.
It is the first blog host we know of where the content is designed to outlive the host. Including us.
What you get
Your own address. yourname.blogs.ecency.com is yours: a clean home for your writing that you can put on a business card, in a bio, or at the top of a resume. You can also point your own custom domain at it, so the address is entirely your own.
Your archive, instantly. No importing, no migration scripts, no copy-paste weekend. The posts you have written on Hive are the site. New posts appear on your blog as you publish them.
A reader-first page. No ads sold against your writing, no engagement chrome, no feed mechanics. Just your posts, presented the way personal blogs used to look before everything became a platform.
The Hive layer, intact. Your posts keep earning crypto rewards from the Hive reward pool, keep their comments and votes, and stay connected to the audience you have built. The blog adds a front door. It does not fork your content.
Pay how you live
Two ways to pay, because our users live in two worlds.
By card. $2 a month, ordinary checkout, no crypto required at any step. If you are coming from a conventional blog host, nothing about the payment will feel unfamiliar.
With HBD, on-chain. Send 2 HBD with the payment memo and your month is active. No card, no bank, no account with a payment processor. If you earn on Hive, you can pay for your blog with what your writing earned.
Either way, months stack. Pay for one month or a year up front, whatever suits you.
Setup takes minutes
Turning on a blog is deliberately boring: choose your subdomain, pay for your first month, done. Your existing posts populate the site immediately. If you are brand new to Hive, the $2.99 premium signup gets you a ready-made account with keys emailed to you and from there the blog is one step away.
Who this is for
For Hive users, it is the personal site you kept meaning to set up: a place to send people that is unmistakably yours, without maintaining a server or a static site generator.
For bloggers coming from the traditional web, it is a $2 blog with a property no incumbent can offer: permanence that does not depend on the company behind it. You get an ordinary blog with an extraordinary failure mode. The host can vanish and your writing survives.
Start today
Ecency Blogs is live now. Claim your subdomain at https://ecency.com/hosting.
Your blog, your keys and now, your address.
Wow, that’s a really cool feature. I’m really curious to see what it’ll look like. Can it be customized however you want, or are there ready-made templates?
Hopefully, lots of users will try out this new feature on Hive, so we can see how it turns out.
Oh, and what happens if a user stops renewing their subscription? Will they still be able to continue using their current account?
Yes, there is customization panel once your activate and login so you can change theme/template, show/hide more info. Renewal stopping would simply deactivate hosted instance but your content still widely accessible from Ecency.com main website and other frontends.
Thank you for your explanation.
is there a sample page to look at ?
Sample https://seckorama.blogs.ecency.com/blog?filter=posts I just ordered, not logged in yet, need to check, just noticed there's no YT videos just links...
thanks for showing the sample still a lot of empty space ....
at least on a 4k screen :)
This is first iteration and with feedback, we are certain we can make it even better on larger screens.
That is why I'm sharing the screen shot :) but yes if you look at the ecency.som page
or the peakd page
there is still room for improvement.
Thanks! Your screenshots are about Ecency.com not Hosted Blogs which we are talking about in this post. Also one screenshot profile page other following feed page, it is good that we have different frontends with own flavors. If you would like particular change/feature request on main Ecency website, we are all ears. You can always use internal chat or discord for detailed/quicker interaction.
i know there is a suggestion channel on dicsord. and it's not the first time i brought this up .
Without ads :)
i always use adkilling software in browser and in my DNS :)
Feel free to send us list of things you notice, we will work on them... After you login, there will be panel where you can customize it further.
Ok
We have
hive-125125community page setup in blog.hivexplorer.com as a sample. Personal blog page and community pages look different and fully customizable you can show and hide many configs, information etc.How do these blogs look like? Is there anyone having their personal blog yet?
You can configure them to your likely and setup to your own domain so people can read and login, interact without leaving your page. Say you have godfish.com, you can setup so your blog will be attached to it then anyone going to your website can see your blog, login and interact with it. Same for communities, you can have photography.blog or photography.com pointing to your community and people can login, interact, in your community on your own custom domain.
Well, I was waiting for that.👍😎
This is fantastic; people can access my articles without going through links shared on social media. I love this; you deserve applause 👏 for this
Lovely! very lovely!
nice add! i'll consider this..
This is a cool idea. Can you guys do a basket view for contents?
As such, I want people to see my photographic content in one menu and my educational content in another menu. Or something I can write about my learning playlist in one basket. not a random topic scroll through the page.
You mean like creating separate lists? Interesting idea, we can explore this. Similar to https://ecency.com/decks I suppose?!
Yes, but a customizable one from a user.
So I make my own list(grid) name and keep my blog/content according to that grid.
Also, the ability to filter my content as needed within the grid would sell me on the idea of a domain.
Kind of like this, which I can categorize in my domain even after posting in certain communities.
Also within the categories, I can filter which content comes first and similarly.
I see, good suggestion. Added into our todo list.
Fantastic job on today's Ecency leaderboard quest, @ecency! Ecency Blogs is a brilliant, affordable way to turn Hive posts into personal websites.
Tipped with Ecency POINTS.
This is amazing 🙂
That's interesting, I'll keep that in mind. Thanks for the great information.
This is way too nice. I can own my own business on the Blockchain!
What now happens when I miss a repayment, will my access be suspended while I still my initial membership of the mother-site? @ecency @commentreblog @commentrewarder
As mentioned in post, when you miss repayment you won't loose anything except blog hosting. Content and data still lives on blockchain.
Can I be able to monetize this blog site with Google adsense?
We don't have Google adsense plugin/extension implemented yet but added into todo list.
Wow
Hi!
I just checked on this, and there is no option there to choose the $3 plan with my own name that doesn't end with ecency.
Hi,
Once hosted blog is active you can add custom domain. Did you activate blog?
