One morning the login stops working. The appeal form routes to nobody. Ten years of posts, the audience that took a decade to build, the archive other people still link to, all of it sits behind a door someone else just locked. Most creators know somebody this has happened to. Some are the somebody.
Three things keep happening to people who publish on rented platforms and 2026 has made all three worse.
Accounts get removed with no real appeal. Moderation at scale is automated, mistakes are routine and the terms of service make clear the platform owes you nothing. A ban does not just silence you going forward. It deletes your past.

I think we, as a community, put too much emphasis on the rewards. The underlying system is what is of greater value, the ability to post and maintain ownership, as you stated.
Ten years of great work by Ecency is a real achievement that needs an appreciation.
The account creation on Hive has been made very simple by Ecency with the Google option. Hive is the real blockchain, the believers will cherish it later.

I strongly agree with your statement that “Accounts get removed with no real appeal.” One of my accounts on a mainstream platform was banned without any prior warning. As a result, all my hard work and earnings were lost just like that.
My question is: What about rewards for our content that’s more than 7 days old on HIVE? As far as I know, content older than 7 days can no longer receive upvotes (it can no longer generate earnings). Please correct me if I’m wrong.
After all, people might discover our content that’s relevant to them, say, a month after it was published—or even a year later.

You are right, after 7 days payout period content/author can receive tips directly.
It’s a shame that writers can no longer earn money from upvotes after 7 days have passed. That’s because not everyone is willing to spend money on tips.
That's not entirely true, there are dozen creators earn from tips and extra subscriptions just because their audience wants to support them. Otherwise patreon type of services/projects wouldn't exist.
