Your Hive community has always been where you write, read and talk. Starting October 10 it is also your team.
Raidstead is a small strategy game that lives right on ecency.com. Every community on Hive is an alliance. Every week a pest drifts into town and every alliance chases it off together.

Why we made it
Hive is full of communities, but most of what we do in them happens one post at a time. We wanted something that gives a community a shared goal for a week, something to cheer about in the comments and something to write about when it is done.
We also had a few rules for ourselves:
Communities, not strangers. You play with the people you already read and follow. There is no attacking other players and no way for a veteran to farm a newcomer.
Everyone starts level. Seasons reset, so joining in week one or in season five is equally fair.
Points are spent, never paid out. Raidstead is not a way to earn. Every Point you spend in the game is burned.
No new app. It runs in the browser, on desktop and on your phone, and it uses your Ecency login.
How a week works
Pick your alliance. When the season opens, choose one of the Hive communities you have joined. That is your alliance for the whole season.
Scout the pest. Each pest is weak to one of three attack types: Ink, Signal or Forge. Scout first, because the right type does double damage.
Attack together. Each attack costs 1 energy. You get 5 energy a day, plus 1 more for each daily Ecency quest you finish: check in, publish a post, leave 3 comments.
Build your town. Wins bring materials. Spend them together on buildings like the watchtower, the workshop and the beacon, and each one helps the next raid.
If your alliance needs a push, you can rally for 5 extra energy (50 Points), or donate to the war chest. When the chest reaches 1,000 Points, everyone in the alliance hits harder for a day.

Meet the pests of season 1
Each week brings a new pest and every alliance faces the same one, so you can compare notes. We are telling you their names and their tricks now. What they look like stays a secret until the day each one arrives: the field guide on the page shows only a silhouette until then.
Week 1, the Spam Beetle. It copies itself overnight if nobody attacks all day. Hit it at least once a day.
Week 2, the Doomscroll Slug. It heals overnight if nobody keeps it busy. Show up a little every day.
Week 3, the Echo Twins. Two bodies and a hit only counts if the other twin is hit within a few seconds. Take turns.
Week 4, the Copycat Queen. She changes her weakness shortly after every scout. Scout, then hit hard and fast.
Watch out for the gnats that shield a pest at half health and for the Clickbait Wasp, which likes to join the fight.
These are community pests, played for laughs. None of them is aimed at anyone real.
What you keep
A season lasts four raid weeks. After that the towns, energy and powers reset, so the next season starts fair for everyone.
Your karma, badges and trophies stay with you. Karma cannot be spent or traded and gives no advantage in the game. It is simply a record of how much you showed up and helped.
Get ready this week
Visit ecency.com/raidstead to see the countdown and read the field guide.
Check which communities you have joined. Your alliance must be one of them, so join the one you want to play for before October 10.
Tell your community. An alliance with more active players hits harder and a pest that escapes makes a better story than one nobody fought.
Every week Raidstead drafts a raid report for your alliance: top raiders, how the fight went, how your town is doing. Edit it and post it in your community.
Season 1 opens Saturday, October 10 at 00:00 UTC. See you in town.
Try it at ecency.com/raidstead.
Awesome concept, I tag some guys from the DACH community for awareness:
@schmidi, @vikisecrets, @maxinpower, @borsengelaber, @dragon-ti, @mein-senf-dazu, @uwelang, @obvious, @hornet-on-tour
!BBH
@mein-senf-dazu and @stayoutoftherz Thanks for the honest feedback! We left payouts out of the game on purpose: on Hive, those models mostly attract farmers and then collapse. It is not without benefit though. Every raid gives you a report you can post and we want to curate good raid reports. We are also thinking about featuring the strongest community of the week on Ecency. It is here to have some fun and unite people/communities closer, right now many people post on community feels like one sided, here you are team/alliance to work towards common goal... What kind of benefit would motivate you?
Sounds reasonable and I agree, the communities are not that used as they could.
What abput Delegations?
It don't have to be big one, but some benefits would be good
Verstehe wenig, aber auch kaum Zeit da einzusteigen :-)
deto ...
Anyone in the Shadow Hunters Community want to join with me in chasing off the pests in Raidstead?
Let's meet up in Ecency Shadow Hunters Community chat!
Join the Community if you haven't already and let's build an alliance and have some fun together!
i was looking for a team, looks like i found it !
Oh good! I am not a gamer, so will be happy to have you there to help me figure out what to do!
There is also
Field guidein https://ecency.com/raidstead so you can learn how things potentially workI'd like to join, but I'm not good at playing.
Me either! We can figure it out together,
https://ecency.com/raidstead
I would love to join you
Yay! This will be fun!!
Thank you for the invitation, @melinda010100! I'm not a gamer either, so I like the idea of figuring out Raidstead together, step by step, as you said. Having an alliance of people who are happy to learn side by side makes it much more fun than playing alone.
I'm curious about the Shadow Hunters community: what is it about, and what do I need to do to join before October 10?

I'd love to have you join us in the game! We can all learn how to play together.
The easiest way to join the Shadow Hunters Community might be to click on my avatar image here. Pinned at the top of my profile page is the Shadow Hunters Contest post. At the top of the post where it says 'in Shadow Hunters' click there and it will take you to the Community where you should see an option to JOIN.
Shadow Hunters hosts several contests each week. If you look at 'new' posts you will see several of this week's contests, which are ongoing every week.
This sounds like a super fun game for all of us! Can't wait to see how Season 1 goes. Best of luck to everyone joining on October 10!
We're going all out with the @ecency community!
Well done @Ecency 👏. It is a great development and a good way to keep bloggers engaged when they get bored.
Some kind of great strategies here as well.
I look forward to playing the game.
I havw visited the site and everything seems set for October 2
I hope that @savvyplayer and savvytester will join in the army. I am thinking 🤔 of my alliance (community).
@ijebest @Kachy2022 @jenifers @Zoe01 @afrikens @Jza @ivyann let's keep a date.

What community here on Hive would you join though? 🤯 How about @tydynrain and @borniet who would probably join the !MMB and/or !ALIVE communities, and @kenny-crane and @pepetoken who would probably join the !PEPE community? 😅 !WEIRD !PIZZA !HEARTBEAT
Lolz, you always have a way of turning situations around. I just can't explain. Which community 🤔 are you going to join by the way, I'm looking at the #freewritershouse #ladiesofhive or the #hivenaija where I will find familiar faces since #ecency is not there and I don't know the reason.
!ALIVE
It would be !WEIRD !INDEED if the #Ecency community itself (now named "Town Square") would be included as one of the communities the players of that #RaidStead game would join, since it would likely have much more members than the others. 🤯🤓 !PIZZA !MMB !BBH
You think so? well, until the 10th o October. We would find out. If !INDEED I found them there, I will not waste time in joining them because I have more friends on Ecency.

Alright I'm set and ready. Just ping me 😂
I am happy to hear this. I will buzz you when the time clicks. Just like in a two days time.

Alright, got it
Remember, it is today. Finally, but I am still very busy at work; I guess you are too. Happy gaming time out there

Lolz, thank you for that correction. See me nah running faster than the shadow. Lolz

Ohh why am I just seeing this? I'll read through and I'm sure I'll be interested to join in
Playing Raidstead! Going after the beetle!
Nice you can build a town together with your friends and fellow town folk
Thanks for this announcement, @ecency! I like the idea of a game where each community fights together against the same pest every week, with no attacks between players and seasons that reset so everyone starts level. I especially like that Points are burned and never paid out, so it's about playing together and not about earning.
The Spam Beetle and the Doomscroll Slug made me smile, and it's a nice way to keep communities active. I'm a farmer, so a pest that has to be fought by the whole community feels very familiar!
One question: can a player change alliance between seasons, or do we need to choose the community that we want to defend before October 10?

good luck
Looking froward playing this
The gamer of All time is here ! haha
let join
Points getting burned instead of paid out is what makes this a game instead of another grind, and communities as alliances is a natural fit for Hive.
Sure, I'll join.
I haven't been able to join.
Making points spent instead of paid out, with every point burned, is a clever way to keep a game from becoming another earnings scheme.
