Points are the part of Ecency most people discover by accident. You post for a week, notice a balance quietly ticking up and only later realize there is a whole economy attached to it. This guide covers that economy end to end: every way to earn Points today and every way to spend them.

What Points are
Ecency Points are the utility currency of the Ecency apps. They sit alongside your Hive rewards, not instead of them. Posts still earn from the Hive reward pool as usual. Points are an extra layer on top, earned by simply using the app and spent on tools that grow your reach and your account.
Earning Points for free
Everything on this list costs nothing but participation.
Post. Publishing original content is the biggest regular earner. Write on your schedule, the Points follow.
Comment. Genuine replies and discussion earn Points too. The system rewards being part of the conversation, not just broadcasting into it.
Vote. Curating content, upvoting the posts you think deserve rewards, earns you Points as a side effect of something you would do anyway.
Check in daily. Opening the app each day counts. It is the easiest habit on this list and the foundation of your streak.
Spin & Win. Daily fun spin wheel game, gives you free points every 24 hours, as more active you are more likely to get higher wins.
Complete quests. Daily quests live at ecency.com/perks. They wrap the actions above into small daily goals, and chaining days together builds a streak. This is not a gimmick that nobody uses. Some Ecency users have streaks that have been running for years.
Refer friends. Bring someone new to Ecency and you earn Points when they join through your referral.
One more source worth knowing: the $2.99 premium signup, which creates a ready-made Hive account with keys delivered by email, also comes with bonus Points to start with.
Buying Points
If you want to move faster than daily activity allows, Points are purchasable directly: in-app on mobile, or with a regular bank card on the web. No exchange account, no token swapping, just a normal checkout.
Spending Points
This is where Points stop being a number and start being useful.
Promote a post. Promotion places your post in front of readers across Ecency who would not have seen it otherwise. Best used deliberately: pick the post you are proudest of, not every post.
Top up RC. Running out of Resource credits, quick and easy way to get RC delegation using your points. Good for new comers who wants to engage more and have a stronger start.
Boost+. Boost+ spends Points on a temporary Hive Power delegation to your account. While it lasts, your account carries more weight and has more capacity to interact. It is especially useful for newer accounts that keep bumping into resource limits.
AI writing assistant. Draft faster, tighten a paragraph, or get unstuck mid-post. The assistant runs on Points, so heavy usage is funded by your own activity.
AI image generation. Generate cover images and illustrations for your posts without leaving the editor, also paid in Points.
Gift Points. Send/Tip Points to another user. It is a small gesture with real utility on the other end, since they can promote, boost, or create with what you send. A practical way to say thank you to a creator or help a newcomer get moving.
A sensible strategy
If you want a simple routine, this one works. Check in and clear the daily quests at ecency.com/perks, keep the streak alive, and comment like a human being rather than a metrics farmer. Let the balance build. Then spend in bursts: promote your single best post of the month, boost you account that deserves a more wind and keep a small reserve for the AI tools when a deadline looms.
Points reward showing up. The creators who get the most out of them are rarely the ones who grind hardest in any single day. They are the ones still checking in a year later.
Start earning at ecency.com, and watch the balance on your next visit to ecency.com/perks.
It's a good idea to remind users of this option from time to time. 👍
Thanks for this guide. Hoping to make the best out of it. All the best @ecency !BBH !PIZZA
I already knew about all the other points use cases, but the AI Image Creator is genuinely interesting. It would be even more exciting if AI video generation were added as well. Well done, Ecency team!
