I found this thing 9 years ago.
Time really flies...
At the time, people were getting 30,000$ payouts for shitposting. I was early enough to secure my piece.
Since then time has passed and a lot of $$$ were made.
Many people came, were basically staked up by the whales, then made a splash and left.
I spent some of my stake on things, but always kept some, because I expected this tech to go mainstream.
Last year September I decided to spend all my liquid funds. I sold a lot of my Hive for cheap, which hurt at the time.

Today Hive sits at 20 cents. Rock bottom.
My feed is ass.
Most of my friends left this place.
Many millions of $$$ were given to marketing scams.
Communities suck.
Splinterlands seems to finally fade.
What else?
Curation gangs are still doing their thing. Can't get rid of these parasites, it seems. At 0.01 cent some dickkhead wales will still support this scum.
Future
Despite all the frustration, I'll stay.
It's not like I've contributed much of value myself.
I am still waiting for real creators to appear and to produce real, relevant, timely content to blow all these clowns out of the water.

This tech might just be too far ahead of it's time.
But this is the internet. It's still magic in the sense that anything can happen.
The web moves fast, sometimes.
Forget the payouts for a moment; No transaction fees (ok: RC), 3 sec blocktime, 1 block irreversibility (which kinda made HAF obsolethe - another few millions wasted), custom JSON, HBD, delegated POS.
It's actually brilliant.
Just not the right users, perhaps.
That includes myself, btw.

I'll be away from the web for a little longer, only popping in sporadically.
I'll keep the last 50k staked, if only not to be a hypocrate.
so much more to write, but I am on a phone and it's a struggle....

Nice to see you still (relatively) active despite your disappointment... We all go up and down through time, and I suppose the same (will) happen with HIVE and crypto in general...
Kind of sharing your opinions, but still holding on to the hope that things can change... But, do we have enough energy to make a change?

I've been waiting for a long time for HIVE price to be 0.05-0.06$ to buy 1 million HIVE. But today I couldn't resist and bought 3500 HIVE, now my KE is 0.12, I'll buy more below :)

I love playing on the stock exchange. I have been trading futures since 2006. I thought, why not buy 1/500 HIVE at a low price, because this blockchain is eternal and token inflation is limited here. Well, in the meantime, my 50k HBD is waiting for its time and adding 15% per annum.
my gold outperformed HBD easily and at no risk 🙃
Gold is an asset for decades. I remember buying gold in 2011 for $1600 per ounce and selling it in 2022 for $1600 :) I couldn't wait that long, crypto can make 3 falls and 3 rises in 11 years.
But crypto can go to 0, while gold can NEVER.
Cryptocurrency can fall to 0. But HIVE cryptocurrency, with a community of 10,000 people, can't just go and fall to 0. I have an example of a Steem fork, the Russian Golos blockchain. It currently has about 100 active users, about 30 old whales, and its capitalization has been frozen at one mark for several years.
The capitalization of LEO and other communities is tens of times larger than Golos. Communities are very resilient, even if there are few people left, because there are whales there who are able to finance small expenses.

I think I am coming up on 8 years and all I can think of is the fomo of not being here 9! Imagine if I was here making hay when that sun was shining and the stake I would have! Ah well, I am proud of having stuck it out with every vote being manual and all of my stake earned a post and reply at a time.
Sometimes I feel that way about my feed and just take some time to make new connections. The algorithm won’t feed them to me like on other platforms and I find new legit content creators all the time.
A 50k stake is damn solid and could at least be a lottery ticket that can pay off at a later date. I have 1000 steem parked on another chain for that reason ;)
Real content creators are scattered around here and we will keep the lights on until your triumphant return.

It is the connections, practice writing, and the spirit of the movement that has kept me dedicated and rolling.

I wrote someplace else, how I made new friends, how much I learned... But honestly, that was way before the fork, mostly. First Steemfest was quite the experience...
