MAKE THE MOST OF EVERY OPPORTUNITY!

Ephesians 5:15-16
Be very careful, then, how you live —not as unwise but as wise, making the most of every opportunity, because the days are evil.

Psalm 90 is a prayer of Moses, the man of God.

It is grounded on several frameworks;

  • The eternity of God
  • The brevity of life
  • The wrath of God

And in the light of the eternity of God and the brevity of our human existence, the Psalmist prays;

Psalms 90:12
Teach us to number our days,
that we may gain a heart of wisdom.

The notion of numbering our days is not far fetched, that's why we use calenders, and set appointments and such.
But do we have a heart of wisdom ?

One song writer says 'yesterday is dead and gone and tomorrow is out of sight.
So come on baby, and help me make it through the night.'

And the lyrics go on, 'I don't care what's right or wrong'.
Nor need he if there is no yesterday and no tomorrow!

In contrast!
Psalms 90:12
Ephesians 5:15, 16

Teach us to number our days,
So that we may not be unwise, but wise
Making the most of every opportunity!

Teach us to number our days!
ie to estimate time in light of God and eternity.

That we may gain a heart of wisdom!
A heart that fears God. Proverbs 1:7
A heart that serves God in the days of your youth. Ecclesiastes 12
A heart that is careful how to live, making the most of every opportunity!

How do you squander time?
Take the 5mins...
the 15mins...
the 20mins...
the casual moments...

...and just let them go to waste!
