RE: Cormorant Collage

in Ecency2 months ago

I love what you did with this and how they each came out. Of course I love collage, so it speaks to me.

I personally like the sides wrapped. It is not a deal breaker in art if they are not as long as they are at least painted and not left raw. For me, on the wrapped canvases, since I hang them unframed, I don't want to see raw sides from side views after they are hung. I have seen other artists either paint the sides black or some other solid color that is already in the art somehow. At first, I didn't like the idea of black and didn't think I'd like it on my wall, but I have bought a piece or two from some other artists that did paint the sides black and although I don't think it enhances the piece, I don't really think it takes away from it either as I thought it would.

We like we like, right ?

Thanks! It's good to hear your thoughts. Looking at other people's collages I did love the way they took it around the sides but somehow for my style it doesn't work (for me) quite so well. I have done a smaller piece with painted sides that looks nicely framed and meant to be hung on a wall. I have a few others to post about in the same style as this cormorant then I might get the scissors and glue out again. Cheers!
