Extreme Fishing Africa in association with Assassin Lady Angler of the week is Simoné Crause Louw!

Fishing seems to come naturally to this beautiful mom and she is definitely raising another young lady Angler 🎣

FIshing tale in her own words:

Hi fellow Lady Anglers.

I am Simoné Crause- Louw and along with my husband I manage Flamingo Lodge in the Namibian desert in Angola. It's strange to think back now on how so many of my dreams and prayers came true in a very different way than I ever expected. I grew up on the beach and who knew that wierd little 10 year old would still cry over plastic bags on the beach at the age of 40! I never imagined when I started an eco-club of about 3 members I would get to live my conservation dream, much less be inspired by fishing like I have been.
I just got my first Stella reel and I can't wait to try it out. Mostly for the release part! I dreamed of becoming a marine biologist, but became a fashion buyer instead. Thank God for our move to Angola! Now I actually live my dream saving turtles and whales and the rich ecosystem we have on our shores. My teacher was fishing! The peace standing in that ocean and the excitement of landing a beautiful Lerie( they are so beautiful), makes me appreciate every species more every day. It fuels my urge to protect all sea life.
My darkest mood is brightened by a fishing session with my little girl and husband. Teaching others what I have learnt is even better! I learnt jigging this year and man what a rush! We also feed many hungry families with the bounty of shad on our coast. This just makes you realize how dependent we are on our oceans, and how important it is to sustain every species. Not only does it give us food, it gives life, oxygen and such joy. The ocean is the most mysterious place in the universe to me. Every fish I land I say a prayer of thanks and each one is important.

I am definitely a lure-girl and nothing is better than kicking some man butt on the fishing shores. Now boat fishing is a whole new challenge. I even started snorkeling, but spear fishing will take me a while to get into, I just float there in heaven in surrounded by a shoal of mullets and feel like a mermaid for now. This year I plan to teach as many ladies as possible to leave the tanning towel and experience the feeling of peace fishing gives your, as well as all the little tricks that give the "weaker" sex an advantage over the boys.
All the credit for any skill I have comes from my husband, brother and friends and I cannot wait to learn more.

The best is making female fishing buddies, nothing compares to a girl's fishing trip! This sport is not just a sport, not even just a passion- it's a giant injection of positive energy. Even when the fishing is terrible, the experience of that ocean, the wind in your face, the smell, the sound- it heals you! Now that I don't think spoons are kitchen utensils anymore and I have my own gear perfectly suited to me I can't wait to add species to my list. And do it while spending time with my family and friends surrounded by nature. Despite my occasional furious outburst about gill nets and illegal fishing I have learnt that changing things start with each of us. My 3 year old daughter has her very own rod now. She has released baby turtles and relocated nests with me. She catches fish in puddles with the most gentle hand because she knows each one is part of this gift we have.
Every morning she goes fishing with dad, even though for her it's more running in the surf and inspecting tide pools. One day I will fish with her, and she will know that every little snail plays a pivotal role in us being able to enjoy and live off our oceans.
But when we go to enjoy this amazing sport, please remember that it is all so fragile and us as fishermen and women, and boats especially are responsible for the most litter. Pick up your lines, make sure you leave nothing behind, clean up whatever you can, save every animal you can save and one day our kids will be able to take their own kids and experience this amazing sport too.

Also thanks Neo for spreading the word that girls do fish! I challenge every female angler to take a woman with you, let her feel the joy of angling. As women we are more sensitive to the balance of things and we can also educate others to angle responsibly. Plus, anything a man can do, we can do better right?😉

Congratulations on your win.
It is really inspiring to see how you care and protect species in oceans. The beach look so amazing, I hope that one day people stop leaving their trash on it, not only the beaches but forests and meadows too.

Yay! 🤗

This reminds me of when I worked in Mozambique on Benguerra Island as Scuba Manager and we had 2 sport fishing dudes called Guy & Bruce that took care of that side of things. Really miss Africa, it’s just awesome.

Thank you much appreciated. You are a amazing photographer and sound like you have a very interesting life 😊
I haven't gone up that way but if I get my way I'll be filming in Tanzania, Mozambique, S.A, Namibia and Angola. But no guarantee on when that will be. Covid has been a bit of a punch to the local economy so trying to get back on track first.

Now that sounds like a great project! I’ll be following now and supporting your posts! Loving the fact that it’s something different for the travel posts as well as promoting Africa which is a must! I also worked off of Zanzibar for many years on Mnemba Island. Do you go up that way?

Congrats! My daughter loves fishing and she is also very meticulous when it comes to picking up litter and treating the ponds and streams she fishes in with great care. Hopefully she will continue as you have!

That is so wonderful to hear. Girls make exceptional angler's and they show care for the ocean. Well done dad for raising her right 😁👌🎣
