At the pumpkin patch

Besides a large selection of pumpkins, squash, and gourds, our favorite pumpkin patch has animals and several fun activities for kids.

There is a child friendly, not so scary haunted house/straw bale maze in the old tobacco barn. The long narrow sheds were built for air drying harvested tobacco leaves. The labor intensive crops are not gown so much anymore, so this is a great use for this old building.

These miniature donkeys might have just been expecting a treat, but they lined up nicely for a photo.

There were several goats. It's a great opportunity for kids (and adults) who live in town to get close to animals.

There was a bowling game set up between some straw bales with plastic bowling pins and balls.

The kittens play happily in the barns and between the pumpkins! They are everyone's favorite. and you never know where you are going to find them.

Wow, what beautiful pictures. The first one, with the pumpkins, really amazed me because we don't have pumpkins like that here in my country. How wonderful it is to have a space like this that you share, where being in touch with nature is so good for you. What a lovely photo of the donkeys. Best regards

That should be exciting for a child. Halloween preparations.

I haven't been out to any of the markets yet to enjoy the pumpkins and fall things, but I plan to soon, just to give my eyes happy drink of color.

When I saw the bowling alleys, before I read the description, I pictured they were letting people roll some designated small round pumpkins to knock the pins down LOL! I bet that would be hard, because no way would they roll straight.

I think old barns just come with barn cats haha don't even have to bring one if you have a barn, there is always one around. Our local egg farm actually has a few goats and minature donkeys. Not sure why. I think they are just doing the country life thing. Keep a few animals around for fun and because you have a place to do it. They do have kids and grandkids around so probably for entertaining the kids.

I like watching animals. The animal planet is one of my favourite tv channels.
The donkeys posed as if they knew they are being snapped 😳 🤧.

Now that I've seen your post on the pumpkin patch, it's time for me to take a ride to our local farm market. I do it every October and take the hayride through the spooky woods decorated with scary things. lol

We have a haunted steam train that makes a loop through a nearby rural park. I haven't done that in years.

Those miniature donkeys lining up for the photo like they were in on the plan is the kind of thing that makes a pumpkin patch trip.
