The kids? Oh, they loved it! I think they were plotting my doom as they threw pebbles into the waves with just a little too much joy. The water was cold, the breeze was colder, and I felt… alive? Or maybe just numb. Jury’s still out.
- The Cat: Supreme Overlord of Comfort
Returning to our cozy home, we were greeted by our true ruler—the cat. I would tell you her name, but does she really need one when her aura screams “Empress of the Universe”? While we humans braved nature, she was tucked in, face smooshed into a plush yellow pom-pom blanket that I didn’t even know we were allowed to use.

As we wrapped up this family bonding experience, a thought hit me: This is what life is about. Trips like these are messy, chaotic, and full of moments you will laugh at later (sometimes much later).
From the gray beach and my philosophical rocks to the cat who mastered self-care better than any of us, and the lighthouse that watched silently as we bumbled through life—I wouldn’t trade these moments for anything.
