Bakain is a tree commonly found in Pakistan, India, and many parts of Asia. People also know it as Chinaberry, China Neem, or by its scientific name Melia azedarach. In Urdu, it’s called Bakain, Chinbeli, or Neem Cheeni, because it looks somewhat like the neem tree. It has long green leaves and small round yellow fruits. You’ll often see it growing along village roads, near schools, or beside fields — where people sit under its cool shade to relax.
This tree isn’t just beautiful — it’s also useful in traditional remedies. Its leaves are crushed and used to treat skin rashes or itching. The fruits, when used in the right quantity, were once used to help get rid of intestinal worms. Some people also use the bark in traditional ways to ease joint pain — but it must be used with care and proper understanding.
One thing to remember is that the fruits can be poisonous, especially for small children. That’s why, before using any part of this tree as medicine, it’s best to consult a good herbal expert or doctor. Nature has given us many healing tools, but we should always use them with knowledge and caution.
Bakain may be known by different names in different places, but its value, uses, and place in traditional desi remedies are widely respected. It’s more than just a tree — it’s a part of our culture, environment, and natural heritage.
