It can be a matter of balance. People want engagement, but a lot of comments look like they are not sincere and you often find the person makes so many that they cannot be reading the posts. There is also the risk that people are using AI to comment for them and that may be hard to detect. I see some that just echo back things I wrote and they look suspicious.
It's always best to be honest and sincere. Hive is more fun if you follow people who post what you enjoy. Chasing rewards is unlikely to make you much, but you can earn anyway.
