RE: What is the future and applications of NFTs beyond culture? Will their use be sustainable?

in Reverio2 years ago

Earlier this week, an NFT known as "The Goose" sold for 6.2 million dollars at a Sothebys auction.

While NFT sales have slowed since the gold rush we saw during the last bull market, we live in a time where collecting a piece of art on-chain is slowly becoming as normalized as picking up a piece from any local gallery or art show. From home art pieces to museum displays, we will likely see a growing portion of art minted on-chain and distributed over the web that is viewed as legitimately as any physical piece from Van Gogh, Picasso or Basquiat.

Or in the case of music NFTs and their creators, as commonly heard as Tupac, Taylor Swift and Tame Impala.

Non-Fungible Tokens have already ushered in an international revolution for artists and musicians as well as audiophiles, art collectors and investors. By allowing artists to guarantee authenticity,  collect code-enforced royalties and verify both ownership AND ownership history of their work, the creator industry is undoubtedly the first to reap the benefits from NFT tech.

Other very promising near-future possibilities include on-chain history keeping, NFT real estate deeds, lucrative NFT DeFi integrations, and even digital passports / identification solutions built using NFT tech!

While no one knows the future for certain, there are many exciting things happening in the world of NFTs and many more to come!
