There’s a moment when a dog looks at you and your brain simply stops thinking.
That isn’t magic.
It’s neuroscience in motion.
From my earliest memories, dogs have been shaping my emotional code.
My mom once wrote in her diary that I’d send kisses to every dog I saw. It was tiny gesture of empathy before I even understood the word.
Then came Ben, my first love. (after Inspektor Rex 🐕🦺)
Every visit to him filled my mind with anticipation and joy, the brain’s natural loop of dopamine + oxytocin, the same chemistry that builds trust and belonging.
Later came Lola and Tara, my mom’s aunt’s dogs.
In one photo of Tara and me, I can still feel what science calls limbic resonance -
two nervous systems attuned through safety, warmth, and presence.
And then, in 2014, I adopted Li.
My calm. My balance. My constant.
Every shared glance, every silent moment
lowered my cortisol, raised my oxytocin,
and taught my brain what unconditional connection feels like.
This March, Li passed away.
But the connection didn’t end, it shifted.
My brain still holds her memory like a gentle hum, a neural echo of love that never really leaves.
Now, I’m thinking about adopting again.
But first, I’m putting myself and my financial stability in the right place —
because even love needs a strong foundation.
Still, dogs find me.
At one of my jobs, there’s a dog who sees me only once a month.
Yet now, he greets me by showing me his toys and snacks. It is his way of saying, “I remember your energy.”
Dogs are pure connection.
They bypass logic, silence the neocortex,
and speak directly to the limbic system -
the emotional core where loyalty and love are born.
Dogs don’t market emotion.They are emotion. A living proof that trust, once formed,becomes part of the body not just the memory.
💭 What if we all learned to connect like dogs do without fear, without filters,just pure neural honesty?
