Having Fun Drawing

in Inner Blocks5 years ago

This morning I saw a post made by @galenkp about #weekend-engagement, aka a contest called Have some fun and win [160 HIVE PRIZE POOL]. The post caught my eye not because of the prize, but because of the topic.

All you need to do is draw yourself doing something you enjoy, take a picture of it and post your drawing in the comments below. source

It's in honor of @galenkp's and @tarazkp's dad, who was a great artist and recently has passed away (my condolences to both).

It's been ages since my last drawing unfortunately. For those of you who don't know me, I'm not an artist but started to learn drawing last year (if I'm not mistaken) and have been having a lot of fun drawing. This year's events unfortunately have changed my life and had no time for my passion.

When I saw the contest, I said it's time to grab a pencil and a piece of paper and have some fun finally. I am always drawing for myself and for fun, never hoping to win or gain anything, so no pressure. The fact that no artistic skills were needed was a convincing factor. I am able to laugh at my drawings, so what can be more fun, right?

Draw Yourself Doing Something You Enjoy

My latest passion that I started working on during the covid-19 lockdown is sewing and recycling, reusing and reporpusing different kinds of fabrics. It's something I enjoy a lot and think it is not only fun but useful too. We live in a world in which fast fashion and waste is a huge problem, so I'm doing my part by recycling, reusing and repurposing what we don't need, plus salvage very good jeans from the second hand shop.

Here I am! 😁

I tried to draw the process, with myself in the middle. For some unknown reason the order is a bit different from what one may find normal, don't ask me why. The logic would tell one to start from left and go right but I felt like doing it backwards as that is normal here for me.

So on the right you can see the second hand shop where I buy my fabrics usually. It doesn't look like that obviously, but I found it easier to draw the jeans like that.

Next, it's me, happy with my sewing machine 😁 Make no mistake, I don't look like that, nor I am so young, but when you're not a professional artist, you draw what you can, right?

Finally, on the left, two bags hanging on the hanger. Both are based on the bags I'm creating.

It's a cartoon, parody of me and what I am doing but it's fun.

Using Lockdown To Learn Something

At the beginning of the lockdown, when many had to realize, they have no idea what to do with their free time, there were different challenges having as goal making people set themselves a few goals to use the lockdown time wisely.

I started sewing right before the lockdown came in so when I saw the lockdown coming, bought supplies so I have enough to work with and started working. At the end of the lockdown I was able to open my Etsy shop and now I'm selling what I'm creating. For me the lockdown was a very busy period and I'm happy I was able to learn something.

So this is my drawing about me and my passion 😁

P.S. This is a work in progress photo, the only one I have. When you're posting an artwork (your own), it's recommended to upload a few work process photos and I'm usually doing that but now I was so excited about the drawing that I forgot to take more photos. Sorry.

I'm an absolute disaster at drawing. I don't even try anymore. 🤣

I can't wait to see your finished self-portrait.

What do you mean my finished self-portrait?! 😲
This is it! 😁

Aren't you going to colour it? 🤔

Lol, no.

Wow! I love this. Bundle of talent.

Thank you! I wouldn't call it talent but I'm trying 😁

It's not easy to hold a pencil to draw. You tried. Regards
