Recently there was speculation over PayPal enabling cryptocurrency payment on its platform, we now have a confirmation from PayPal over cryptocurrency integration.
Online payments giant PayPal has confirmed that it is working on bringing cryptocurrency capabilities to its platform. The news was confirmed via a letter sent to the European Commission seeking clarity on various cryptocurrency-related activities.

Having been a member of Facebook's Libra and consequently withdrawing, PayPal looks to be making cautious to enable smooth cryptocurrency integration, we should expect Bitcoin and a few other cryptocurrencies to be enabled on PayPal.
On the bright side of this, I think it will expose PayPal users to Bitcoin and other cryptos which is what we need in this space.
Cryptocurrencies can't be ignored for too long!

Are the altcoins a certain addition? I didn't imagine they would want to add more than BTC to start out.

My thought is to at least add ETH and BCH, just my thought nothing specific on which coins they will add as far as I know yet.
If EU approves Paypal to integrate Cryptocurrencies, the prices of crypto will explode like a nuclear bomb
That's cool....so people can buy bitcoin through paypal....I wonder if they will require any further form of authentication
I suppose some sort of KYC will be required, that should be expected from the likes of PayPal
