For the past few days we have been hearing a lot about bitcoin (cryptocurrency in general) insane rise and adoption in Africa. Lots of young budding entrepreneurs are investing and trying their luck with Blockchain and Bitcoin.
Amongst this news comes another one. Akon the Grammy nominated singer, philanthropist has announced about his 6 billion USD contract to build a cryptocurrency themed city in Senegal. Akon himself is Senegalese-American and is widely known for his altruistic and philanthropic acts in the world.
This contract is with a US based engineering firm. The first phase is expected to be completed by 2023 and second phase by 2029 and the entire project is targeting a 2030 date.
Also previously announced by Akon this city will be powered by his cryptocurrency Akoin.

It’s going to be everywhere- I mean, Akoin is actually going to be in more places than Bitcoin itself, Because in Africa we have an open platform.
