STEEM, the dying blockchain?

in HODL5 years ago

It's been a while since I took a look at the "State of the DApps" website. Hive is doing it fantastically with 3 DApps placed in the top 10, Splinterlands continues to hold first place and new DApps are developed continuously month after month

Just the opposite of what is happening with STEEM.

The first DApp is APPICS , which I still use from time to time and on which I still don't understand why the keep working on STEEM. It is holding the 290th position in the rank
STEEMIT is far below, at the 546th place...

This week I discovered as well that STEEMIT INC started the powerdown of its whole stake:

4 weeks and everything will be finished for them and Justin-Tron-scammer...

What will happen next?

Would be Sockpuppets witnesses finally disconnected? and if so, would the STEEM blockchain survive?

I am really curious about...I wonder if the remaining developers that still are there, as @steemchiller or @hightouch , are preparing the next steps of another new-steem

The end of the story is still being written.

Interesting news ... I didn't know about Steemit.inc's powerdown
For me Steem died definitively the day J.Sun stole the STEEMs from the wallets of his opponents.
I'm also curious to know what will happen in a few weeks
Thanks for sharing @toofasteddie

Interesting moment indeed

At this point, I don't expect much from this social network. I continue to share my contents there but I just have less than 900 Steem there!

Will see what happens next

It is a pity,I used to love Steem with all of me 😀

Now it has turn to none of you

Sometimes we need to change our trajectory. :)

STEEM blockchain died the very first day Justin Sun bought Steemit Inc. It is the case of centralization power trying to impose decentralization, old era versus the new one.
It is just a matter of time that the platform disappears. I am only interested to see how the whale account steal case will end up. At this time, that is the only interesting thing as a case study, the rest is just witnessing how everything keeps fading off.

Without that giant stake, STEEM might be good to use again. I don't think the exchanges will allow JS to use the same trick again.

However, if he still controls the witnesses, it may be a moot point.

Still, if he dumps STEEM and walks away, the community can pretty much do whatever they want so long as they have the witnesses to implement new forks. It wouldn't be the worst thing if he dumped his entire stake.

The things is that, you cannot control witnesses if you don’t have stake

That made me think that potentially, the account is divesting in order to create several accounts to run their own witnesses rather than bribe some of the other witnesses.

It is a pity with what Steem has become. For Appics I only keep wondering why they are still on a blockchain that is slowing dying.

They said a while back that they would be opening up support for hive accounts but haven't heard anything since. That was a couple of months back.

Dapplr will be offering us more on Hive

True but dapplr is a hive app for interacting with the chain. I feel that appics is a stand alone app that could attract it's own users and have it's own content. More so than just a general app.
Something that we need a lot more off to attract users just for photo content. They on't need to see everything else on the chain.

Good point on that, hopefully we might have an Instagram type of App on Hive in the future where will just be for photos alone. I must admit I miss using Appics, I am just not prepared to be posting on Steem and Hive.

Marky posted the other day that Steemit is powering down 30 million STEEM.

Nobody knows what is going on but Sun might be jumping ship.

Hey @toofasteddie, here is a little bit of BEER from @libertycrypto27 for you. Enjoy it!

I'm hoping that if steemit power down and the price falls totally that we see a lot of the remaining users migrate to here. They won't all come but a lot were neutral and just didn't want to move to a new chain. There are a few apps like appics that would be great to get here as well. I still use it to milk my last autovotes and sell for hive.

We have picked up new users so getting a few thousand of the old ones to jump over would be a great win. It would really boost the chain. The people who were really against the split have more than likely sold their hive at the start so that shouldn't be an issue. Most would be medium small users.
