The stubbornness of a drunkard

in Reflectionsyesterday (edited)

I want to tell you a real-life story about the stubbornness of a drunk.

Often, when we're under the influence of alcohol, we tend to ignore the advice others offer us.

Alcohol often impairs our judgment and seems to block our ears, so we don't pay attention to the words of those who could help us feel better.

A few years ago, specifically on November 10, 2017, I left work and, to relax a bit, I drank some alcohol. At that time, I was so obsessed with traveling from the city of Maracay in Aragua state to Guanare in Portuguesa state. It was around 6 in the afternoon, and I was determined to travel for no important purpose. I got in my car, already a little tipsy, and drove aimlessly, listening to music and drinking a bottle of aguardiente. Drink after drink, I arrived in a city called San Carlos in Cojedes state. There, my car overheated, and I crashed, but I was determined to keep going until
In Guanare, when I went out to check the vehicle, I decided to continue driving. I was already quite drunk, and while I was on my way, I had another accident. At that point, I dozed off under the influence of the alcohol, and a group of young men surprised me and stole my vehicle.

I don't know if God was protecting me at that moment, but the truth is that I could have lost my life that night. Before leaving for Guanare, many people told me to stay put, not to go like that, to sleep, rest, and travel tomorrow.

Many times, alcohol makes us make bad decisions, have flawed thoughts, and think only of ourselves with the stubbornness of a drunk.

A great piece of advice I can give is not to let alcohol consume you and to pay attention to those people when they tell you something for your well-being; make good decisions.

Truly, when it has gotten to the extent of alcohol been in total control, there is a downgrade and self destruction looming. Well thanks to jah, the experience isn't always a funny one, at that moment the thought of the risk in drinking and driving won't be considered. I once was like this too, but through therapy and self discipline I overcame, alcohol abuse. @anliuvm
