RE: Comment (no) vote

in Reflections • 6 months ago

I guess this is one - if not the only 🤣 - advantage of not having too many HP: you (almost) never get a comment just for the sake of an upvote ahahah

Jokes aside, to me a comment with no effort inside isn't even worth a reply, neither an upvote: I have already wasted time checking a useless comment, so no point in wasting even more resources.

But, as I often wrote, imho the issue here is not only people trying to get an easy upvote with a lazy/automated/useless comment, but also authors/curators blindly upvoting meaningless interactions just to get a +1 to their comments/followers counter.

I keep saying it, but on Hive a lot of bad manners are a result of people curating with only one idea in mind: to get the most out of their voting power.

Shitposters (and shitcommenters) exist only because someone upvotes that... shit, either because they can get an indirect advantage (ehi, look mom, I got 7 comments on my post!11!1!) or a direct one (self-vote + vote-trading... I'm a finance guru 🤡).

If those people would put the care and attention that you (and some others big stakers) put in their curation effort, I'm pretty sure that all those "human" bots would stop spamming shit all over the place.

Sort:

There's an advantage to having a low HP? (I think not...but I know you were just joking of course.)

I agree with your comments, there's many people here doing things with an agenda in mind and that doesn't always mean their actions are wholesome. But, the ecosystem lends itself towards that sort of behaviour I think, and given the chance most humans will choose themselves over others.

I don't like spamming or spammers which is behind my comment about thoAe fucken shit coin/token call ups people do which to me is little more than rubbish being dropped on someone's post. If someone walked into my house and dropped rubbish on the floor I'd make them leave, it's no different on my posts. That's just my opinion.

There's a lot of bad actors on Hive, but it's a free place for people to act as they like...which is why I'm out there downvoting people when required...me acting as I like (freedom to use my stake) and countering what I see as bad acting.

The only downside with downvotes is that they generate so much drama...

But, the ecosystem lends itself towards that sort of behaviour I think, and given the chance most humans will choose themselves over others.

... although that above is so true that, perhaps, there are no better way to handle the problem.

Possibly, but I don't buy into it. The freedom exists to use our stake as we see fit and whether that's an up or down vote is up to the user. People get so upset about it when they should just accept that things don't always go their way and move on. I get downvotes, usually big ones but I never create drama or mention them, just post some more and do what I do.

People see it as their right to act as they please but forget that the same freedom they have to do so is a freedom other people have.
