Uptober? 👋

in Reflections2 years ago

This post is not about cryptocurrencies. It’s about life.

When the month began, I felt optimistic about what was to come.

From Uptober to Downtober

For the first time (in six years ), we had vacation at this time. For me, this period represents the "dream vacation" because it’s when there are fewer people in any destination and even on the streets.

The month started with weather like never before. It rained every day; more than the Caribbean, it felt like we were in England (of course, without the benefits that entails ). It was impossible to make outdoor plans 😢

Having vacation time, my partner and I decided to repeat our experience in the Nursing sector. We did it last vacation (in August) and loved it (Read it here. A second season seemed the most logical.

This time, a bit more relaxed, we had learned a lot, so it was hard to surprise us. Although in the medical field, this is impossible; there’s always something that takes you out of your comfort zone.

Suddenly, it went from Uptober to Downtober . Everything came to a halt.

Cuba suffered a nationwide blackout that lasted 72 hours—hours that felt endless. Coupled with the bad weather, it was like living an eternal night, confined at home. A true madness. (Read more)

In my case, I was left with posts ready to publish, pending interactions, and work to submit. But I couldn’t complain because my neighbors’ food was spoiling, a newborn had no milk to drink, and the elderly man had no flashlight to see in the dark. So I was pretty "fine"

Everyone’s resilience was put to the test. For me, like never before in my 24 yo.

Even today, it’s hard to think about those days, especially because of the real fear that it could happen again very soon.

Little by little, the situation stabilized, and although we continue to suffer from power outages and rain, nothing compares to those days.

Hive

Although the month has been quite difficult, in Hive, it has been the opposite. I’ve gone from 1400 HP to 1700, and very close to 1800. These aren’t big numbers if you read me from outside Cuba.

But In my country, these numbers are equal to the annual salary of a doctor, which is why they mean so much.

Although energy and weather haven’t helped me bring my usual content and I’ve had to juggle to keep delivering quality content, this has been the best month in a long time.

It’s not just the increase in stakes, but also the new relationships I’ve been building recently. Even though we only "know" each other digitally, they took the time to leave me messages to check on how the power situation was going.

I’m still grateful for this gesture.

With my sister, we launched a digital venture, which fortunately was launched after the national blackout and has been doing very well in its few days of existence.

Among all the bad, we have some good things left—things worth fighting for and striving for every day. I don’t know if better times will come for my country, but I do know, that I will do everything possible for my family and me to have better times.

I am not an example, nor do I intend to be one.

I just hope that if you’ve made it this far, you take away this: life may be falling apart, all odds may be against you, but never stop doing the right thing; never give up!

In one moment, I feel overwhelmed, but remember that it’s not just a moment; life is a marathon, not a sprint. I had to remind myself this several time the past days

My grandfather used to tell me: Always be disciplined, move forward, and above all, always do good even when no one is watching (someone will always notice).

Growing in Hive is like life: a laborious process that takes time, but is well worth it (hence the comparison). That is one of the many things I love from Hive.

I am not someone who sits down to reflect, but I know my fellow countrymen or maybe someone here is in similar situations.

With this post, I bid farewell to what was the most contradictory month of the year for me. Very difficult in the physical world and very productive in the digital one.

Adeus, October!

A post out of the ordinary for my blog, but very necessary to close a tough month.

How did October treat you? Let me know over there at... Comment whatever you want.

On this occasion I have little to add to what has been written. Just congratulate you on the growth in Hive, wish you both, you and your girlfriend, the best in the physical world.

Best regards @dahpilot.

Thank you, my friend, for your words 🙏🏻

Reading you always lifts my spirits 😁, which is why it's always a pleasure to read your comment .

Weekends is almost there , any special plan?

Thank you very much for your words @dahpilot. I am quite tired. With quite a few changes in my life (and experiencing some predictable but painful family unpleasantness). So this weekend I'm not going to do anything extraordinary. Just resting, and I'll probably also make some progress on a publication for Hive.

What I do hope is that you enjoy this weekend with your partner.

A big hug.

When I saw Uptober I thought it's another crypto post 😀
Nice to have a vacation but we will have ours in December.

I guess that the title it's Mission Accomplished 😅

We'll be on vacation too in December. The funny thing this year is that we've been on vacation in August, October, and December, as if the university doesn't want us 😂😂

I hope you can make the most of those vacations more than I can 😅

October was a terrible month. Honestly, it's really brought my spirits down.

And to add, I'm unemployed, but I hope to slowly get out of this rut.

I'm so sorry to read that, my friend 😢 but I know you'll soon have the chance to keep fighting. Don't stop trying, and it will come to you. I hope what’s ahead is much better 😁

Remember, you’re not ~unemployed~; you are a Hiver , and that’s a full-time job.

Never give up! 💪🏻
