Uruz inverted
Disease, weakness and difficulty to advance. September is a month which will test our individual and collective vitality, the cohesion of our groups and institutions, the fortitude of our bodies and minds. We're called to rest and pay great attention to physical sensations, to basic needs. Many doors will open in the coming weeks, but we must exercise our judgement with caution to know which ones we could cross and which we should pass by. Our relationship with the earth is reaching a more critical spot and natural disasters will increase both in frequency and gravity during this period; already several areas of the world are becoming uninhabitable due to this process and the largest cities, considered bulwarks and havens for humans, won't be exempt from strong transformations and crises, which will in turn put greater pressure on governments and financial systems, increasing the challenges to the sovereignty of countries and the mechanisms of international cooperation. These conditions will remain active in the coming months and years, demanding fundamental changes in the way that we operate as a species. When mountains fall, the wise seek valleys and plains; the Rune refers not only to natural rocky elevations but also great socio-political consortiums and corporations, colossal structures that cannot move by themselves and can therefore only break apart.
Eihwaz
This Rune has been of great relevance in recent months and tells us that we must continue the work of supplying and equipping ourselves, solidify our positions, place boundaries against any attempt to transgress our spaces and at the same time, maintaining our flexibility and permeability for the penetration of new perspectives, of ideas that come with tremendous sharpness and keenness. There are attitudes, behaviors and habits that we'll have to uproot in this period and the impact this will have on our global consciousness is inexorable. We're called to accept the new conditions with composure and integrity, this isn't a time to play clever, any attempt at holding on to opinions contrary to the flow of events will put us in an enormous disadvantage with regards to our fellow humans; the transition of reality forces us to open our minds and emotions, to be clear with what we need and desire, to share the burdens for the road and let go of that which breaks our spirits. While Uruz speaks of problems with our progress, Eihwaz commands us to focus strictly on what we've decided to do in order to find balance in the circumstances. Simply put, we cannot surrender and resisting the course of events won't help us in any way, so we can only exercise a deeper concentration, increase our dedication and discipline.
Othala
The pacts and agreements that have been signed, the constitutions and systems that have been imposed so that we could have a sense of collective coherence, reveal themselves to be ineffective and insufficient to regulate the new conditions of human interactions. There will be attempts to keep debates over politics and laws closed off from the public, but they'll be more and more fruitless, further demonstrating the disconnection between the leadership and the people. This transition, however, is a very auspicious moment to establish other kinds of agreements, to review and reconfigure treaties at the small, medium and large scales, taking into account other sources of information which haven't been considered thus far for making official decisions. Like the previous Runes, Othala speaks of the difficulty of movement and the risks of committing to a perspective of the world that might reduce our adaptability; it is of vital importance that we open ourselves and develop our ability to question, curiosity and imagination will be far more useful that purely rational analysis and the loyalty to beliefs and traditions in the situation that we have ahead of us. Our ancestral heritage, our material patrimony and our desire to leave a testament of our existence in the world forge the precepts that rule the lives that we live as individuals, communities and societies; we cannot escape this ascendancy but we can grow aware of it so we can use it in our favor.

I have been feeling all kinds of old relics popping up as I try to ween myself off some of my last serious addictions.
To be honest I feel a lot more pessimistic about the state of the world than I usually do. I feel my rose colored glasses breaking, but I know there are actual roses to be found so I will not give up on them.
The healing required will be much deeper than I anticipated, but all I can do is move forward and keep working on it
I'd say the pessimism is a function of the shadow that's coming out. I don't experience it, but I do see the ugliness more and more. Fortunately, like you, I know the beauty far exceeds the ugly stuff and that's what I focus on.
Yes, the healing IS deep. It's happening right now, which is why so much is coming out. Let's keep doing what we've been doing with even greater dedication!
By monthly reading, you mean that you read the signs of times, or events that will be through those stones?
Thanks for the question! The Runes, like all other oracles, can read the energy of the present moment, so if certain readings reveal things about the future and others reveal things about the past, it's only because these things are relevant now. I've done daily readings for years and now I'm adding monthly readings to assess the situation for an entire month.
