I wonder why banks here don't give debit cards that last for entire life. I believe that from what I saw renewing a card automatically doesn't cost anything. So they would just safe money if debit cards would be given for life?

This is a good question. Other than them wearing out. The other thing is, many use digital wallets anyway.
