RE: We should all be preparing for old age, DECADES in advance.

I wouldn't have guessed grip strength would be an accurate predictor of all-cause mortality.
I would say my keyboard hands aren't that strong 😅

But I do agree that it is good to prepare for staying fit (body and mind) at a later age.
Heading slowly towards 50 I try to keep myself fit by cycling a lot, walking and taking the stairs whenever I can. What you eat and drink is also an important factor by the way.
I recently read about the one leg balance. I thought the book was called 'Tiny habits'. It had more simple health tricks, but one of them was brushing your teath standing on one leg to improve your balance.

Your blog is a good wake up call 👍

Oh, efficient! I do like to save time. Working out at home is the best because during the rest period between sets I can quickly pick something up, clean a plate, get food ready for the next day.

My legs have become like rocks just from casually cycling 20 minutes a day on my work commute!

As for diet, that's what I'm working on now, but I fear most of my issue is this 'visceral fat', the stuff tucked between organs and does all the damage. I'm still really quite a high fat percentage I think! But... next few months will change that.

My whole life is a wakeup call this year!

It's the simple things you can easily integrate in your daily life that can help a lot. You 'just' have to make it a habit.

Commuting by bike is really great. I do it as well. It has also proved to be good for your mental wellbeing. Once my knees gave up on me and I stopped playing football, I started my cycling 'career'. Last year I made over 5000 kilometers.

But... next few months will change that.

Do you already have a plan on how to achieve that? The idea is easy... burn more than you consume 😂
But that can be quite difficult in todays world where fat and easy food is all around.

Go for it mate!

That's crazy - congrats! Mine must be much, much smaller overall but I might try to calculate it.

Yep. It's been annoying. Gaining muscle is so much easier. I lost 3kg pretty quickly in the first couple of weeks, but as of yesterday I gained it all back, even though I only had a single meal on one day that took me over my calorie deficit. Not even sure how it's physically possible; either I'm storing a ton of water or I'm just counting calories off by about 600 per day... Sigh.

Never give up! My main advantage is I'm not a big foodie. I can forget to eat for an entire day if I'm not careful!

Don't pay too much attention to weight. Weight depends on a lot of factors.
For instance the moment you weigh yourself. And when you drink a lot of water you also weigh more. And muscles also weigh more than fat. Just pay attention to what you eat; less sugar, less fat and less processed food.
You'd better measure your fat percentage or if you can't do that for instance measure your waist.
