Actually you can see the financial freedom early retirement movement in various forms and names taking over in many countries. Now it reached China, where they got those empty cities that they want to fill, where the rent/house price is so low that somebody can literally live there after saving 2-3 years of their wages, and still having enough money for food and clothes.
I wonder if I could live in one of those empty cities. It might be a good alternative life.
You may need to speak Chinese though. A one bedroom flat is 35K Euro, and you may need around 500 for bills and expenses monthly. Seems quite a nice deal.
