There's always so much to think about but I can also understand that sometimes comfort can feel like we're hitting a wall. I've talked to a 9-5ers who told me that they would rather be able to work anywhere. I personally never really tried 9-5 since somehow it's not for me 🤣 I can't just bow down to anyone and has a high chance of rebelling and calling it quits. I'd get so bored doing things that are so mundane and isn't intellectually stimulating.
Everywhere, the economy isn't looking that good that I'd consider starting a business as a side hustle rather than main income. Honestly, in such above case, I think trying it out and see how it pans out would work better than diving into it.
Thank you so much for taking the time to share your experiences 😊 if I ever talk to her again, I'd tell your story and experiences just so she could really have more picture on what it all entails and adds more perspective.
They always say that until they actually have to do it! It feels like the dream but many people struggle without the time and social structure that "going to work" provides. People also lose a lot, especially young people, when they are not around other more experienced staff. We had a lot of challenges with the pandemic and our less experienced members of staff, they really struggled and sorting out things which could be done in a quiet informal chat in the office escalated out of all proportion when you had to try to find a way to deal with it remotely!
I've done both things and tried to find a happy medium. Like you, I would (and still do) walk away from jobs at the slightest provocation 🤣.
I think you have a sensible take on how to approach it and you're aware that running a business is no easy fix. I sometimes suggest that people get a part-time job (or volunteer) in the kind of business they want to have and get some hands-on experience and talk to people who are trying to do it.
In fairness, lots of people advised me not to set up the high overheads business, including lots of people who had done or were doing it. Thinking about it, though, if I hadn't done it, I may never have got to Hive - my introduction here was through a person I had met because I set up that business.
Hope things work out and everyone is happy! 🤗
