This popular quote from the character Ferris Bueller from the movie Ferris Bueller's Day Off says a lot about my life currently. It is amazing how time flies faster than we can imagine, given the fact that it feels like yesterday, I was only a little boy under the shelter of my parents, eating their food, taking instructions on what to do and what not to do, and now I am an adult all on my own exploring this world.
Things can be gone in an instant if you fail to appreciate them. Love, fights, disagreements, and even injuries are all designed to leave at some point. So why don't you stop and enjoy it? The world has successfully built the forte of busy busy busy, get that money, there is no time, and now we have slowly forgotten what it feels like to rest, take a break, and enjoy the presence of being present. We have filled that empty void with work, that companionship with social media likes, and that sense of purpose with a zeal that must be heard. I have something to say without deep thoughts on what it is or how relevant it is.
Nothing will weigh you down like your health, infact, nothing comes close to a healthy mind and a sound body, and do not doubt it when I say all that fast pace of wanting to be successful or working hard for financial freedom will all become obsolete, totally irrelevant to the health problem at hand. I remember watching a reel when an attending nurse spoke about the things people said on their dying bed. Most of those things were centered on regret. Regret about not spending much time with the ones they love, regret about not taking their health seriously, and even regret about not taking a break when needed.
All these have kept me in a state of reflection. Reflecting on what my childhood was like, the good, the bad, the ugly, and the yet to come, as all these sum up the journey called life. Life is a game where there are no winners, only people with experiences to share. Therefore, I will be giving myself a break, a time to enjoy, take myself out, live in the moment, and create more memories as I move on with life.
Don't let the hustle consume you and take you away from the important things and the ones who are. Call them, check in on them, tell them you care, and above all, prioritize your health. In the end, Life moves pretty fast. If you don't stop and look around once in a while, you could miss it.
