I’ve been trying not to share out of obligation but only when i feel inspired to write and share and when I genuinely just want to get something out of my system.
That’s not to say I haven’t created anything. I’m merely trying to work on things that feel more valuable than a 7 day payout, though I am happy to share parts of them here when they are ready.
Exaclty one week ago, we had a show which went spectacularly well considering how underprepared we were. We prepared plently mind you, but it takes a while to really get a feel for a new song and we didn’t have a while so we had a rough idea and played it by ear.
Here is our soundcheck as a preview for what’s to come (though the camera didn’t pick up the sound as well as thr last show, so not sure I will share that much from this show)
We ended up playing a song that wasn’t even finished. I just hummed instead of singing the lyrics and a brass band we made friends with the day before joined us for that last track. It was messy but beautiful!
Since the show I’ve wanted to slow down and play a few games for a week or two but I ran into a friend who I had been thinking of asking to help me with mixing, and it’s a friend who doesn’t even live in Japan, and just visits a few weeks every year.
I mentioned it and we made a date for today. Spent the next two days practicing and explaining what kind of sound I was going for.
Then yesterday I was invited to contribute some writing for a small new magazine. I thought I’d wait til next week but got home and started writing. It’s almost finished!
Today we recorded the guitars and some rough practice vocals for this song
The album will most likely have 8 long tracks (5-10 minites a poece) which makes it as long as most 15 track albums.
I hope to release a single after I finish recording 2-3 songs!
