It was a full day, but not much got done. It was filled with mostly driving to and from Helsinki, because that is where our soon-to-be new dog is and we had a chance to meet him before we pick him up in a couple weeks. He spent most of the time sleeping on my wife's lap, so it looks like my wife gets what she wants, and has squeezed our daughter out of ownership.
He was pretty comfortable there.

His brother is also there and they look very similar, though ours is a little chunkier, with a wider head, and ever so slightly lighter in colour. However, their nature seems very different with ours curious, calm and reserved, and the brother outgoing and very playful. The breeder chose the calmer one for us, as she thinks it is better for families with children.

I fixed the last of the fence, which was a piece to close off the bottom of the terrace so he doesn't wander under where we can't reach him. Otherwise, we are pretty much all set to welcome him in to make our home, his home. It is going to be a bit different than that of the breeder, who has a smallish apartment with several dogs there currently (not all hers), and not too much space to spare. Here, he will be able to run free and get lost in comparison.

Though I don't think he is going to go far.

He seems at this point very much a lapdog, looking for a warm and calm place to bury his nose and fall asleep, with paws shaking at the dreams. Smallsteps is a little bit unsure about how to handle the puppies at the moment, but she will learn fast. They are just over a kilo now, but when picking them up, they feel half that - except for when they bite with their tiny, sharp teeth.

We ended up talking with the breeder and playing with the dogs for a couple hours, which was less than half the time we spent driving to do so, but of course it was worth it. I think it made it more real for Smallsteps too, as while she has seen pictures, holding it in her hands makes a difference. This is the first time she has been with such a small puppy and she was pretty amazed at how small they actually are. Compared to the adult dogs that we were also patting, they look like toys, and the other dogs aren't very big themselves.

Two weeks and family life changes slightly again. Well, life is always in flux and we have a fair amount of change all the time it seems, but hopefully, this is change for the better. Even though it isn't easier. Better doesn't mean easier though, and I think a lot of us confuse at times what actually makes our life better, and how much easier costs our wellbeing.
The life of a dog is better and easier though.
I wish I was a dog.

He's gorgeous <3 Does he have a name yet?
Who knows. Maybe the dog's contemplating his future prospects even now, confused and frightened, but still aiming for better ;)
Puusti! Which is taken from part of a sweet bun.
Wouldn't surprise me if he is. Quite a lot of options it seems :)
They'll make excellent pets for Smallsteps, the pups. With their calm nature which makes it easier to look after them and play with them. I suppose the pups with the more boisterous temperament would have posed some difficulty when they become full-grown. I could say this is one of the he best gifts Smallsteps could have gotten from you her parents.
Just one is ours. Not sure if I could handle two.
For sure. I hope that it is going to be one of those great life experiences for her.
beautiful dogs.
My Lota when she was alive few times managed to run through the gates. I was hardly able to catch her.
It is nice to see that dog will get a good and loving home. On tv I saw that some stray dog had 7-8(? )bullets in his body. It is still surprising to me how inhuman some humans are...
It is always a worry! Especially when there are so many cars around.
As they say, human cruelty knows no bounds.
The dog of our favorite neighbor(well technically of one of her grandkids but that dog often stays at our neighbor's home) was hit by a car. It seems that she has recovered completely. But that still is very scary/ stressful experience.
It can be super expensive here to visit vets.
it was very expensive here as well. Our neighbour's kids now are saying that their dog became golden after going to the vets so much.
This dog looks very beautiful and cute. Such dogs are very affectionate with family members, I hope this one will also get along well with you.
It looks like it will settle in with us fine. We will also introduce it to the one we dogsit, because it is so well behaved and hopefully it learns from him :)
Oh he's so cute! That last picture though....😍 And those foot pads lol...they're made for kissing! I love the name and it fits him well.
He'll be a great addition to your family
That last one is like he is a comical vampire sleeping during the day!
Now that you mention it, he really...He's milk drunk lol. Seems like it would have been hard to come home without him 😍
Those puppies look like candies. Take care with that bite. Those teeth are painful in our skin. Luckily in the future they'll (theeth) lose the sharp.
My wife said a couple times she might eat them :)
😂😂
I'd do it too
Awe! So cute! Our dog used to love to crawl under the couch when she was a little puppy. It didn't take long before she was too big to do that anymore! I'm sure the pup will have enough love for everyone!
I have built a carpeted ramp for behind our couch so he can climb up and watch out the window :D
Very nice!
Aws, such a cutie!
Soon, it is just going to be posts of dog pictures... :D
Long drives might be tiring, but meeting your new dog must have been the best part :) I liked that he seemed so comfortable on your wife's lap :)
Teo more weeks and I will be able to have naps with him.
hahahaha yeah I wish I was a dog often as well, but not any dog. These guys bring a lot of life to the house though. I always feel when doggo isn't there that the house doesn't feel alive in some kind of way.
Enjoy the upcoming weeks once the little one reaches!
What kind of dog would you want to be?
Specifically my own ;)
Adorable! I love that you are doing this. It gives me a warm and fuzzy way over here. Thank you for the warm and fuzzy.
No worries. If you are ever over here, you can cuddle him too.
I definitely don't see how getting a dog cannot be anything but a blessing. Congratulations
Yeah, it is going to be pretty cool to have him here. But don't tell my wife.
Haha! please don't wish you're a dog but wish we humans are treated like the loving puppy right there, that care, attention and peace these puppies carry along is so attracting @tarazkp at this stage of the puppy they're getting use to the owner. I can see truly it turns out to be a lapdog because it deserve that tender attention till maybe at older age. Love isn't paid for but naturally created from within. And in regards to life and it's perspective craving for betterment doesn't guarantee easier pills to swallow.
Dogs are great companions for the elderly, as long as they are still able to look after them. Everyone should own an animal once in their lives at least - just to know what it is like.

Those are super cute! Any animals we have usually become my animals so we kind of gave up on that idea other than the fish :)
Oh those puppies are cute and gentle🥺 I am amazed how comfortable your puppy is sleeping on his/her back like a baby. He/she is feeling safe for sure and in on good hands. The way the puppy sleeps in any positions look adorable and if I were slept by that kind of puppy, I will not flinch for sure until it wakes up. I am glad it will have a big space now in your home compared to the breeder's place. Big space means big fun for them. You life and your home will change for sure now that you have a new family member who will be as silly and as funny as they want to be. Goodluck on raising this little creature. Nature must be happy!🐶
What a beauty!
Congratulations
awwwwww.. look at those puppy dog eyes..
