The ability to manipulate the masses only works for so long, because people start to feel the violence in their local neighbourhoods. It can only be swept away for so long, before people fight back. But I don't think being armed is going to help much, other than to be part of the post-apocalyptic world. I find it pretty sad that we aren't smarter than this.
