For sure. Kids are more capable than we think they are, but also less capable in some ways than we think they are. I don't think they are as capable at self-regulation! :D

Well they gotta learn somehow and it's very hard to learn when things are constantly being done for you because you don't know how to or you don't get the opportunity to practise! XD
Which reminds me of someone I knew from my uni days who was relentlessly coddled by their parents and they were well aware of this fact and that was the reason why they knew almost nothing about adulting when they moved out, but appareently conversations with the parents regarding that didn't change their behaviour in the slightest (coddling continued when they went home and things were done for them when they asked to be taught how). The ones that aren't that self aware are going to be in for a something.
