I think this is a good way to do it. I like a good steak, but most of the places I have been over the last few years aren't that much better than what we can do at home for a third of the price - and the service sucks.

And then on top of the cost of foods, factor in all the various other costs, like time away from work, medicines, antacids and larger clothes.

I definitely agree on steak, good steak from Costco is around $50 and feeds 3 with leftovers. A restaurant made steak of the same kind is $80 per person and is not really that much better than what I grill at home...

Yep. We can by a nice tenderloin here and eat 3 tines from it abd have scraps for something else for the price of 1.5 plates. Crazy.
