Soon, no none will even have to see anyone else. We can all sit at home in a virtual reality, going everywhere we want, seeing only the types of people we want, who say the things we want. For many, they think that is utopia. For me, it is dystopia.

I'm currently reading the memoirs of the French ambassador to the court of Catherine II. What kind of people were they three centuries ago, how pleasant they were to be around. Of course, the percentage of nobility and educated people wasn't large, but it was a pleasant company.
From what I have understood, wit was a big part of the court.
