To be a whale.
I don't know how long I will stay here, as I will likely start a powerdown soon because I picked up this Hive in the recent dip in order to sell. I was hoping for a quick turnaround, but am still at a loss on it. Though, it is a considerable amount and puts me into the whale category of 500,000 HP. It was always a goal, but I never seriously thought it would happen. Not that it is as much of an achievement at the current prices perhaps, but maybe one day?

What I appreciate about my journey to this amount of HP, is that it has come from relatively nothing, taken an enormous amount of work and along that path, I haven't been a maximiser, posting crap, treating people poorly it scamming anyone. I have been able to be me, doing my thing, writing, interacting, learning and helping others. That is pretty cool in my opinion, though I would have had a lot more had I taken paths like some others may have.
I have to live with myself, and my decisions.
Good and bad.
And for me, it isn't all about wealth. Some people seem to define themselves solely on their bank account, as if as long as they have enough, they are solid people. Being a decent person is how we behave, or don't behave, as the case may be. Manipulating others at their expense in order to build myself, is not the path I have chosen to take - and that has cost me financially.
But having value and having values, are two very different things.
In all hope, I won't have this powered up for long and will instead start a powerdown as price increases and hits all time highs - wouldn't that be awesome for everyone? Most likely though, I will be trapped powered up, while everyone else sells the peak.
That would be more likely.
But I am not selling at 12 cents.
$1.20?
Whatever it is, at some point, I hope that my financial life will get better, because this year has been *incredibly shit for my family and career, and I would like to give them some good news one day to make all the work and worry worth it.
One day.
Until then, I will just keep being me.

Congrats! That's awesome! Even if you don't stay there. I hope to get there one day soon! I think that is part of what I like about HIVE. It's not something I bought or was gifted, but something I earned. That makes it even more impressive for me.
It makes a difference. I believe we are all creators at heart, but we have forgotten how to take ownership of our existence. Hive is a reminder.

You're one of the most committed individuals that this chain has, and I'm glad my tool didn't collapse into a stinking pile of steaming computer chips when you went through your account history (though, it would take much longer now with the new features I implemented).
The value to me isn't necessarily in the comparison to any form of fiat, or other crypto but in what hive enables us to do with our meandering words.

I'm gunning for orca myself, little over half ways there now though at the current pace it's many years to get there if nothing changes, but we all know how things turn on a dime around here.
It's at times like this when the price is low that I like to go though and remind myself of all the good things that are still in the pipeline for HIVE.

Many many positives on the horizon in my opinion.
At the same time. I also wish I wasn't broke as all hell and could justify buying more HIVE with fiat, but as it stands everything I have in hive will end up pure profit regardless of when I sell so I'm good either way. I got into the green selling some HIVE back at the $3 mark.

The good thing of being oneself is that, one day, when financial conditions get better, we can keep being ourselves. Probably and hopefully an inproved self after the road and the effort to get the satisfaction that financial improvement can provide to make our family's life better. And that's really pretty awesome. To keep being one self beyond wealthness and even in it as a won battle is awesome as well
I don't know about you, but I tend to be one of those people who doesn't change much in personality regardless of who I am around, or what I have at the time. Even drunk, I just get a bit louder.

Good luck dude! I've really been struggling to understand the economics of Hive, and I think there might be two distinct, separate economies here (trading vs blockchain activity) so I hope this gamble works out for you because you are way more brave than I am.

I am also doing the unthinkable. I am powering down a few hundred HBD and will convert it to HP today. that will allow me to surpass my crazy goal of 20k. This will probably be my last big HP increase for this year. After that I will probably save up cash for that camera.
That is a good move at these prices I think. Hopefully in a few months, it will pay off for you.
probably more like in the years- because I don't plan to power down HP any time soon. But yes with current prices I felt like I had to make this move. Who knows if such opportunity will ever appear again...

Congratulations on becoming a whale on hive, I hope you go higher from here. Well, we can only hope that the price of hive goes up, but in reality there isn't much we can do to make that happen. I hope you're able to cash out on your enormous HP at above $1. I admire your consistency in this space and becoming a whale is a fitting way to compensate you for your efforts.
There are some things the community can do, but as an individual, unless very wealthy, very little.
I would like to see us with more whales. The most we have had is around 40, but we need more big accounts to spread the voting power. As it is there are people with several whale accounts. Anyway, it's a nice achievement. I am still a long way from that level, but I do pretty well.
What is the count of whales now? I haven't checked for a little bit. Also, how many different people are in that group? Seems to be quite a few multiple accounts.
@arcange posts the numbers each month and it looks like we lost a couple of whales.

Wow, what an achievement - i bought some at over 30 cents and hoped for a jump - as prize was not agree with me i powerup but now need to powedown at least a bit again which is a shame
I was buying up there too... sad. Still, it is fine if it goes back there and over again - one day.
Sometimes it is just the way it has to go. Having it powered up for me makes it much harder to use though. I have a mental block when powering down :D

I think a risk is something we need to take every once in a while. At least with hive you know a lot about it before taking that risk. Now it’s about figuring out the right path forward with it, if it stays where it is or if it comes out a little bit over time.
12 cents is a pretty low price in my opinion. but hey, this is crypto - it can go up and down from here :) Just hoping that it is up for me and those who already bought.

Putting a bit in each month at these prices (a bit more at these prices too) and it would make a huge difference in the future for many. Yet, it is funny that as the price falls, less people buy.
It is human psychology, harder to buy when price is falling...
More people bought Bitcoin at 50, than they did at 20. Now at 100? :D

Anyone don't think to power down and then sell under low prices. If it will go high place better for think about sell. Not now.
The funny thing is, most people could have done this too - but they always have a reason not to be consistent.
This is definitely a motivation for me also, I haven't gotten to that large range @tarazkp but seeing and reading this master piece a higher gear has been activated on me, and well even during the dip I believed it will bounce back fully, I noticed the shakes when it did happen but the best is yet to come. Greater heights always.

Many people bought Hive to buy low and sell high. I also bought some on the exchange but I am at a huge loss. When I need money, I am forced to sell some at a loss. However, at the current price, I doubt it will reach $1.20! Anyway, I will wait until then.
