We Talk Friday
(WTF)
This is a semi-regular series that I will run on Fridays to hold discussions on a current topic from the week gone. The aim is to keep them light and conversational, though some might be heavier - regardless of the content topic itself though, just have some fun engaging and discussing with whoever happens to put in the effort in the comments section below.

We Talk Friday Ep. 70: Got Bench?
1. GTFO 6
While I have never played Grand Theft Auto, GTA 6 comes out in November and people are really excited. I have always found it interesting how people can get so excited over the release of a game or a movie to the point that they plan their lives around it, like not showing up to work.
However, apparently there are conversations on the interwebs discussing whether maintaining a GTA girlfriend is cheating on your partner. And all I can say is, if that is the kind of discussion you need to have and, you are worried about being cheated on with a character in a game - you my dear, have bigger mental issues to sort out. Or perhaps, if your partner gets that involved with a game that they spend so much time maintaining a digital girlfriend that it affects the real-life relationship, then again - bigger issues.
2. Worst laid plans
For those that follow the NFL, the 49ers and the Rams played the second game of the season. Why this is a bit unique is that it is the first regular season game played in Australia. The Rams were favourites to win, until they revealed that they would be flying into Australia a day before the game, while the 49ers flew in last week to acclimatise and shake off the jetlag. Perhaps unsurprisingly, the 49ers came out on top and the Rams looked ordinary.
Performing jetlagged sucks ass.
All that way for a big L.
3. Genghis Christ
And staying on the sports theme, did anyone see the 58-year old Mongolian president benching 100kg for 20 reps? He hammered them suckers out and put me to shame in the process.
Perhaps there should be some level of physical capabilities that all presidents need to pass in order to lead a country. Sure, brains over brawn, but there doesn't seem to be much of either spread between them.
Some just eat Big Macs.

At least the Mongolian President benching 100kg for 20 reps with that sort of style shows he can apply himself to something other than snorting cocaine and shafting people, unlike the politicians in our European kakistocracies.
But who doesn't love a line of coke?
Hahaha. I've done only one line of coke in all of my 63 years and all I got from it was a massive headache.
The GTA thing is just stupid, both ways. We are just doomed.
I figured the Rams would get beat when I heard about their strategy. Kind of dumb.
Brain and a little fitness would go well. Would rather have brains over brawn if preferred though.
We are doomed for many reasons - entertainment is a big one.
The Finnish president is a triathlete and a smart guy. Still a politician for sure, but I know he puts in the work that many of the others don't. I wonder what the world would be like if politicians were ethical people who worked hard for their constituents?
Yeah, don't get me started on "reality TV".
Not saying physical fitnss is not important. I would prefer it, but want brains to go with it. Example: Look at Hegseth and Kennedy Jr. Both physically fit foorthe most part, but not so much upstairs.
For sure. Brains first. I think they should set an example of good behaviour like any leader should, but lately many seem to be the worst of us.
Agreed
I may be one of the few people who has no interest in GTA6. I already have a few games(Baldur's gate 3, Zero parades for dead spies and The Blood of Dawnwalker) that seem far more interesting to me. so beating them while playing at my slow pace will take me months if not more. And after that will be a new era- Witcher 3 expansion is coming next year and witcher 4 a year after. Also creators of the The Blood of Dawnwalker are already working on a sequel. So I have no interest or time for gta 6.
That being said the whole thing about cheating reminded me something I saw in the past(but now I am no longer sure if that was a movie or perhaps just a meme...) - A girl had a dream that her boyfriend/husband was cheating on her. So she woke up. Screaming and in tears. Demanding that the boyfriend should apologise for cheating in her dream...It seems that people are now reaching those levels of craziness in real life...
I have had women upset at me because they had a dream I did something. I think it is common to feel the dream, but it is also pretty ridiculous to cut out on those feelings. It is a bit like the people who get obsessed with a character from a series and believe the actor is the character. Silliness.
This new generation is cooked already. There are way more serious and real concerns which need to be taken care, but nah. I have played video games, still do. But the craze of this level was never there. Well this is all about "trend" nowadays.
No GenZ was hurt in the saying :)
Moreover, President is wow! 100KG is okay, but 20 reps is quite impressive. Good speed too
All gen-Z were hurt, by anything and everything, even if it was not meant for them and they have no actual interest in it.
Yeah, I can do the 100 easy, but not sure if for 20 at that speed.
I still have to reach the 100KG milestone, by far my max is 70KG :)
I do play video games, but getting excited to such level is not my thing. And being afraid of digital girlfriend, this generation is really something to feel sorry for.
And when I saw the President doing those reps, I was ashamed of breathing the same air as him. Dramatic xD
For so many reasons.
You'll have to hit the gym. I can bench that and more, but unsure if I could get 20 out at that speed. Pretty impressive.
Perhaps physical fitness isn't a requirement for running a country, but staying healthy and active certainly seems a good example to set :)
Setting an example is part of running a country I think. Sone are running their country down, rather than building it up.
Maybe presidents should pass a basic fitness test, but some would probably fail before even reaching the starting line
Probably a good reason not to elect them
Sometimes those ‘WTF’ moments are just the break we need to readjust the lens through which we view everyday life. What’s interesting isn’t just the strange event itself, but how it makes us question the ‘normality’ we’ve grown accustomed to without realising it. Reality always has strange ways of breaking the routine.
Stranger tha fiction seems to be the case in politics these days. What would have been unimaginable behaviour a couple decades ago, is now accepted daily.
The criteria for political leadership seems to be getting lower on a daily basis
"crooked" seems to be the standard.

STOPInteresting read, never owned gta myself but I’ve played with friends haha
Well there's "sports widow/ers" so gaming ones wouldn't be that much of a stretch. I do think it's kind of lame that people put more effort into their digital gardens and relationships and pets than their real ones and then they and/or everyone else try to blame the thing for being addictive.
Thanks
